Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

We shall see if this makes it into print in their comments section ...
I'm all for tradition, and breaking a 55 year streak of consistent attendance is news on one level. But, let's see if I have this right.
"after this November" Tressel will not guarantee attendance at the Greater Cleveland Area Alumni Dinner?
Which indicates he will be attending this year's dinner, chalk up 56 consecutive years of attendance.
"he won't make an annual appearance"
Were these the actual words in the letter to the GCAA? If so this still leaves open the possibility that he may appear, just not every year. Plus, you make no mention of whether or not another of the coaches would make the trip to the banquet in his stead in the off years.
"What's worse is how Tressel had the bad news delivered to the Greater Cleveland alumni: in a snippy ''Here's how it's gonna be'' letter -- full of moaning and whining about how it was unfair to expect someone as popular and in-demand as Tressel to attend the Cleveland banquet every year."
Gee, could we editorialize more severely? Sending a letter, taking the time to write out one's thoughts has apparently become an uncivil action. Besides which, how else would he communicate; oh, by phone, face-to-face, on bended knee? Moreover you take snippets to suit your slant, that much is obvious. Be fair and reproduce the letter in question. Let the reader decide how much "whining and moaning" it contains. Otherwise it leaves me with the impression that the moaning and whining is coming from one mouth - yours.

What network? Thanks.

:gobucks3::osu2::gobucks4:

College Football Live is a new ESPN program...similar to their NFL Live segment. It airs Mon. thru Fri. at 3:30 - 4:00.

Edit: (additional info)

They will be interviewing what ESPN considers to be the upcoming seasons top Heisman Candidates (25 of them I believe...not sure if Beani is one of them), head coaches of top football programs...Les Miles was today, Coach Tress as already mentioned will be tomorrow, Pete Carroll will be this Thurs., ND's Chucky and former ND coaches Parseghien and Holtz will talk College Football & all things Notre Dame as part of a 30 minute segment on a College Football Live Special Wed., Aug. 29th from 7-11 p.m. with Brent Musburger "moderating".

They will also be following some of the top Senior Players through personal video diaries throughout the season.

Sounds like a decent program to me.

Just to add a little more info... the ESPN analysts on this show are the same ones as College Gameday (Herbstreit, Corso, Fowler).

...and for those who will be at work at 3:30, it will also be airing at 7:30 tonight. (I just checked, and it looks like there's at least two airings a day, one at 3:30 then one later at night at like 6:30 or 7:30.)

Can anyone give a brief synopsis of what Coach had to say and what was said about the upcoming season? I Tivod both shows, but my wife erased them. Don't get me started.
Thanks in advance.

He didn't say anything about the upcoming season, it was actually quite disapointing. They started by asking what was learned from the championship loss and asked a few follow up questions about some specific examples... that's it. It was only a few minutes long. It was still cool to see Tressel, but the interview itself wasn't that great. I still can't wait for the upcoming season though.

It wasn't enough for you to get too upset about missing...a quick interview overall. Rece Davis asked him about the title game, about what kind of lessons he learned by losing, yada yada yada. Davis mentioned his 5 titles from the get-go, and JT looked like he has aged a year or 3. He gave credit to Florida, about how to prepare for an opponent, by way of not having any close games, which probably didn't prepare the Bucks too well for a game that might be a close one. Which it wasn't :!. Don't penalize the wife too much, she's worth more than your Tivo is (won't go any further)

Not much ....

** Team will need to spend a few weeks "feeling themselves out" but not be too conservative because anybody can stop you if they know what you are going to do.

** An example of a lesson that they might have learned from last year's bowl game is that they weren't pushed to take their game to the next level and didn't know it until they got to the bowl game (or something to that effect ... the NC team was challenged every week) and they didn't play enough close games and get refined.

** Joked that Herbie is their best recruiter as he was saying good-bye

It was about 5 minutes worth, 2 questions.

i thought it was rather odd for Coach to project our 2007 Buckeye team will NOT be conservative in terms of our offensive game plan. contrary to the common perception on this up coming season, due to tremedous losses on the offense, that Coach and his assistance will most likely steer toward a more run-oriented, conservative game plan, nonetheless, he IS expecting to try to get the ball to A LOT of receivers this season. he DID say that for the most part of the first half of the season will probably be spent on finding an identity for the team. BUT he is not expecting to be conservative.

I don't know if this is another Coach's "in"famous politically correct, give-you-a-bunch-of-words-but-aint-tell-you-nothing interview technique, but it sure pumped me up hearing that from Coach that he "will" be aggressive. Hopefully, that is a positive sign on this otherwise highly anticipated/questioned season!! :wink2:

I can only imagine that any interview that I can view from my "pent-house" would be visible by any coach that is going to run into JT himself on gameday. I prefer the poker face, as if it's a secret that he lost a Heisman QB, 2 first round WR's and his starting RB. I imagine they would be surprised to hear that he has his gameplan already figured out, and so would I. Although, I can think of worse weapons to work with than the returning Buckeye O, plus that D, oh did I mention that D.....
