When it comes to wits, Tressel miles ahead of Les - CBS News
"Tressel, and Urban Meyer of Florida, are the best two coaches in college football. The two most complete packages. Those guys could win at a big school, at a small school, and in the NFL. They're that good, and everyone in the business knows it. "

I did a little searching this morning, and I came upon some Tressel fun facts.

Youngstown State Years

1986-2000 (15 years)
125-57-2 (68%)
10 Playoff Appearances (67%)
6 National Championship Appearances (40%)
4 National Championship (26%)

Ohio State Years
2001-2007 (7 years)
73-15 (83%)
7 Bowl Appearances (100%)
5 BCS Bowl Appearances (71%)
3 National Championship Appearances (42%)
1 National Championship (14%)

There are a number of things I could say about this resume, but considering recent events, I'll just make one note:

For 22 years of collegiate head coaching, Jim Tressel has been to the Championship game ~40% of the time.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we will have many opportunities to win National Championships.

It is bad enough the national media is crowing today but then there is this....

Fire Jim Tressel?: Fire Everyone.

Here is just a piece of the idiotcy....a fire Jim Tressel website....

So, I'll finish as I started - Fire Jim Tressel, all assistants, all assistants to assistants, all ball boys, water boys (or girls), take away all scholarships (let the walk-ons at least tryout next year, they have a soft spot in my heart), and make everyone find their own way home from New Orleans. Would we be terrible for the next 20 years? YES. Would I care? NO (at least not until next season or until the booze wears off).

Awesome story man. I'd like to add to it. After we won the title against the "Canes...my dad, who is the vp at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio had written a little note and sent it to JT. Back in the day Witt and Baldwin Wallace were big rivals in the OAC. My dad grew up watching JT's dad and the Jackets from BW play Witt every year. Dad's note simply said it is nice to see a good 'ol Ohio boy from Baldwin Wallace make it to the big stage and and win a title. It also complimented JT on his character and his values that he carries on and off he field. I initially thought that the note would be one of thousands, and possibly ignored(by accident). Within a week JT had hand written a note to my dad and basically said how much he still thinks of all the BW and Witt games that he played and watched his Dad coach in. It concluded by saying "Go Jackets, Go Bucks". It is now framed and hanging in my Dad's office.

Next year Coach Tressel will coach Ohio State to their 799th and 800th wins in the first two games and will go for win #801 against USC.

It is still a great time to be a Buckeye and I would not trade our head coach for any other in the land.

:oh:

and barring any unforseen disasters in '08 JT will move past John Wilce(78) and Earle Bruce(81) into 3rd place for most coaching wins in OSU history.

Nobody in America is as good of an overall fit for our program as JT. I pray we get a full 20 years at least.

Loss to LSU opens critics' hunting season on Tressel, according to Bill Livingston

OHIO STATE LOSES: THE AFTERMATH

Second BCS trouncing smudges OSU's Vest
New Orleans

- From The Sweater Vest to The Flunked Test.
Critics today are saying that Jim Tressel is one controversial pass interference call from being John Cooper. A penalty flag was the 15-inch-square patch of polyester that became Ohio State's magic carpet in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.
In the delay in the first overtime between the ball landing in the end zone and the flag fluttering down were hatched a thousand conspiracy theories. Actually, there was a foul on the play, but it should have been ruled defensive holding since the ball was not in the air.
Ohio State won in the second overtime. It was the Buckeyes' first national championship in 34 years. Romantics said it was won by intangibles and unity, which was partly true.
