John Calipari (official thread of impending probation)

Crazy story about 3 lawyers who sued Calipari, AD R.C. Johnson and Derrick Rose and reached an out of court settlement for "making their 2009-10 season tickets and future season tickets ?potentially? worth less than they had anticipated."

The University of Memphis? disgraced 2007-08 basketball season prompted three local attorneys who claimed to represent unnamed season ticket holders to threaten a lawsuit against former coach John Calipari, former guard Derrick Rose and current athletic director R.C. Johnson before reaching a lucrative out-of-court settlement.

Wow! Shouldn't about any fan sue if their tickets got devalued by a coach who had violations.....Buckeyes could sue for the same thing with Pryor and Tressel.....any lawyers started up anything yet? some easy money. With all the penalties, losses, dropped out of top 25, tOSU football tickets have been devalued. Tressel moved on to a job in the NFL, Pryor left as well, but left the football program in bad light nationally and in disgrace. Lawyers will probably try to add stress, etc to it as well. Who wants some cash?

I agree with you,but lawyers are scum and bottomfeeders, and Calipari and Rose settled out of court.......their situation mirrors ours, forfeited season, and the program has suffered and will for a few years on account of Tressel and Pryor. Those two are living the high life, at the programs expense.

facts are facts, John Calipari has never been charged nor found guilty of anything, but the perception is from media and the like who are ignorant of facts. If Calipari wore a blue sweater vest and tried to act holier than thou and got an endorsement for doing it the right way by Bobby "the strangler" Knight, and Cal was found to be a cheat, then the school loses. I happen to think Thad Matta is an excellent coach and a good recruiter, who does it the right way and I would hate for him,the school,or any athletes at tOSU be thought of in a negative way based on JT.

It is still true, this had nothing to do with the NCAA, but tickerholders who filed suit over devalued tickets....forfeited season. The situations mirror,tOSU lost every game in 2010, due to the actions of a few. I look for a lawsuit.....who is responsible for the 2010 season being all losses ? It took the program to national shame and labeled as cheaters. This is the perception, sad but true. I was really hoping to get a win in a bowl against an SEC team, so what is it now instead of 1-9, it is 0-10, that is bad enough, considering tOSU is top dog of the B1G

How does a 0 win season devalue tickets? Explain this to me. We are paying the same amount for tickets this year, as we did last. If ticket prices are based on wins and losses then why dont they ever drop in prices for poor seasons? It doesnt matter who was responsible for the 2010 season being all losses. The tickets were priced the same no matter what, so there is no proof that the losses devalued the tickets.

Except when they work for you....or when you have been wrongly accused of somthing....or if your hand gets caught in a defective machine at work and you no longer have the ability to work and take care of your family....or if the government allows children to work in coal mines....or if they are defending The Ohio State University

vacate vs forfeit...look it up

The Memphis lawyers pulled it off for the exact reason. I think Tressel and Pryor would each cough up 100k and maybe Tressel forfeit some bonus than to go to trial and have to chance exposing the dirt. The plaintiffs and attys basically extorted the $$ in the Memphis lawsuit, whats 100k to those guys, and to not go to trial. It was extortion...legally. I don't agree with it,just saying the situations are the same. If some Buckeye ticket holder decided to do the same, Tressel would settle fast, rather than testify, especially if 100k ends it. Calipari sure settled fast.
