"what hasn't been reported yet is that the internal injuries were actually suffered during consensual sex with brett romberg.

romberg now works at the community college sweeping up and dreaming about pinching NFL'ers asses."

Romberg spent so much time on his back infront of tim anderson in the fiesta bowl that he still thinks they have a future together.....

Romberg's like that stupid female dog that barks, but rolls over on her back at the first sign of dominance.....

The extent of his injuries are slowing leaking out. Alan is right with the couple of fractured ribs but there is also a punctured lung. In addition they are saying his knee and shoulder received extensive damage.

Also, on the radio some sportsguy went to where Kellen lives in Westlake to talk to his neighbors. His neighbors were not too happy with him as just the previous night he was drag racing and popping wheelie on his street.

Reports are starting to come out that his contract does restrict him from riding motorcycles and there is speculation by the media that the team could make him pay back $10 million (bonuses). I'm sure we will soon find out more about how true all of this stuff is, but he is hurt and he is an idiot, which we all knew.

I love that his daddy has no comment now. From the Akron Beacon Journal - ``I have no comment,'' Winslow's father, Kellen Winslow Sr., said. ``I'm not speaking to the press. Anything released about Kellen will come from the Cleveland Browns.''

Tibor - It's not tragedy on the lake, it's mistake on the lake.

By Barry McBride
Date: May 2, 2005

UPDATED! The Browns have acknowledged that TE Kellen Winslow has been hurt in a motorcycle accident over the weekend. Here's what we know, plus the official statement by the team.

UPDATE 11:30PM
Cleveland television stations showed security camera videotape this evening of Winslow and his friends tooling around an empty Cuyahoga Community College parking lot. While the actual accident wasn't on film, television coverage showed where Winslow flipped over, hit a small shrub, and landed. Also coming out in media reports tonight are comments about Winslow's contract, which contains a number of clauses regarding involvement in hazardous activities, potentially decreasing the team's financial compensation to Winslow if he loses time due to these injuries.

As most Browns fans are likely aware, reports earlier throughout the day indicated that Browns TE Kellen Winslow, Jr, was injured over the weekend in a motorcycle accident. Rumors have flourished over the course of the day, with concerns about internal injuries expressed by many fans.

What we know from published reports is that Winslow and some friends were riding motorcycles in a parking lot near Winslow's home in Westlake, Ohio. Winslow apparently hit a curb travelling about 35 MPH and flipped over the handlebars. While Winslow was wearing a motorcycle helmet, it was not strapped on, and resultingly flew off during the accident.

The team acknowledged the accident earlier in the day, and released the following statement this evening:

Cleveland Browns TE Kellen Winslow was injured in a motorcycle accident yesterday in the Cleveland area. Winslow has sustained some internal injuries, which are stable. There is also swelling in his right shoulder and knee. The extent of these injuries will not be known until further medical evaluation is completed after the swelling is reduced. Winslow will remain at the Cleveland Clinic overnight. No timetable for his release has been determined.

Bernie's Insiders will have more on the situation as it develops. Stay tuned as we gather additional information on Winslow's condition...

Winslow could face charges of reckless operation and operating without a valid driver's license because he didn't have a learner's permit, Arcuri said.

I don't see how, as Ohio traffic offenses do not cover private property. Unless they have video showing him recklessly driving on the street.

I think the "terms are undisclosed"

According to terms of Winslow's contract, he was scheduled to receive an option bonus of $4.4 million in March. He also was scheduled to be paid a $2 million installment of his $6 million signing bonus before the start of the 2005 season. His base salary was to be $305,000.

Bonsiewicz declined to say if Winslow's contract contained provisions to protect the club in case of a non-football injury.

i'm no legal eagle, but some are saying that his $4.4 mill bonus for 2005 will probably be taken back.....the browns may also go after his initial signing bonus as well....

supposedly someone on Cowherd today said Winslow could stand to lose $10 million because of this....

they were talking on a browns board about how the soldja scored a 9 or 12 on the wonderlic....

edit: akak was posting while i was typing....he beat me to it.....the numbers 4.4 mill and the 6 mill do seem to verify he is out 10.4 mill...

But the 10 mill could also refer to some "one time escalators" in his contract for bonuses and salary... but Its my understanding that he's already missed those escalators based on being out last year (they were one time, and performance based)... but that's also a little unclear. So that could still be inplay if he doesn't play this year.

The scheduled bonuses would only be reimbursed if there is a non football injury clause... I would think...
