Konrad Reuland (R.I.P.)

Scout $

5/25/05

From Scout.com...great article by Steve Helwagen and Allen Wallace. Konrad's father indicates that Konrad is up to around 25-30 offers. He also confirms the offers from Ohio State, as well as offers from the entire Pac-10 (except Wazzu), Nebraska, Notre Dame, Florida State, Oklahoma, Duke, Utah, San Diego State, Ole Miss, Kansas and UNLV. Konrad's father talks about Konrad being born in Ohio and still being a Buckeye fan. He plans to visit OSU in August.

I hope we have a good shot at this kid? It probably will be tough to get him out of the west!
I think it will be easier to get Konrad to come East than most kids from CA, considering that he was born in Ohio, grew up a Buckeye fan, plans to visit OSU and has a family that is close friends with Ryan Williams' family...

Buckeye at birth

If he truly was a Buckeye to start with, he will be a Buckeye in the end. The appeal is too much once you get hooked, and growing up watching the Silver Bullets, in Ohio nonetheless, should far outweigh Petey C and his number 1 guy routine. Throw in the fact that former MV teammate Ryan Williams is already a Buckeye, and Bemoll used to be (however short that was, he'll regret it) and even Sanchez sneaked a peek, I think (IMO) Konrad is a legitimate possibility if we play our cards right. "I was raised to hate Michigan", RW...maybe he is already in Konrad's ear??? Might be a long shot, but I've seen crazier things...all aboard KR!!!!

Coach Weis showed up at Mission Viejo to visit Konrad. He was impressed and said ND has the best tradition in the nation. Konrad will try to have a top 10 by the end of the summer but he does not plan on an early decision unless one school really stands out.

Konrad is claiming 30 total offers with 24 of those in writing. He has visited USC, UCLA, and Stanford while Ohio State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Miami will get visits this summer on a four-day whirlwind tour. Konrad hopes to narrow things down by the end of summer.

Reuland would be an awesome get for us, especially with our need for tight ends this year. I hope that his Ohio ties and his visit will knock his socks off, and he will end up coming to OSU. Konrad seems like a true player and let us hope the coaches pull out all the stops for him.
