Kraig Appleton (former WR Wisconsin Badgers)

Rivals $

5/5

From the Wisconsin site...top 6 is Michigan State, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and LSU. Talks about his interest in the Badgers and his plans for the summer.

Very surprised Illinois is not on his list...very surprised.

Very strange list of favorites ... with or without Illinois.

Michigan St. is doing a good job in Illinois this year. They don't have any commits, but I believe Buckner is seriously considering them.

But yeah, that list is extremely surprising. Looks like a combination of academics(Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, and Ohio State) as well as proven ability to produce receivers (Tech, LSU, and Ohio State).

Hmm.... I wonder who he should choose...L:)

can someone do a film review on him?

It's tough to get much from his Rivals film imo, just because it has limited clips. However, he is a fluid athlete who seems to have good body control. He has good hands and seems to seperate well. He won't juke you out of your shoes but he has decent agility for his size. I personally like Fields a bit better but Appleton would be a great pickup for this class. A WR class of Fields, Appleton, and Jackson would be phenomenal but it may be first come, first serve between Appleton and Jackson.

I bet leach is selling Appleton early PT...which would be nothing suprising in their offensive system. Add the fact that Crabtree tore the NCAA up last year as a true freshmen. Texas Tech would be a fun system to play in for a WR. Texas Tech doesn't suprise me as much as Vandy.

Texas Tech is an easy sell for WRs...they probably had no business courting Julio Jones last year but they were in the thick of things until the end with Julio.

He should seriously consider Wisconsin. We didn't sign a single wide receiver last class after the highly regarded Wes Kemp decommitted. Plus, we didn't redshirt 3/4 of the true freshman wideouts in the previous class. A big receiver would be especially ideal because we have several slot types.

He looks like a fit for either a pro style or spread offense. He's big, but he's not really a long strider. He can break free quickly or beat DB's deep with his speed down field.

But I'd bet he was just humouring Badger Blitz writer Paul Day when talking about how interested he was. Consider the source. Not that Paul Day isn't professional, because he's one of the more neutral heads of a team site around (helps that he's an MSU fan), but I'm sure Appleton was still well aware of his audience.

He'll probably make an excellent decision for him personally, like commit to Ohio State or LSU and start 15th on the depth chart. I'M BITTER. :wink2:

MSU isn't really doing all that well in Illinois other than negative recruiting the heck of UI...Buckner isn't going there. He just wants to be recruited. He'll end up with Illinois but he just got an offer from LSU and he wants to visit there as well. I'm still not really worried at all because Illinois is where he wants to be he just simply wants to be recruited...

As for Appleton, man this stuff gets stranger everyday and every year with ESL prospects. I still think Illinois is going to get him but now I wouldn't be surprised if things take a turn for the worse with him. Something has always seemed to have happened with ESL prospects (Jerrell McDaniel '06, Brandon Harold '07). Somebody is obviously pushing them away from Illinois. As far as the whole Appleton offer thing, it's confusing at best. I believe he does have an offer, I just don't know why he keeps saying he doesn't??
