Lamarcus Joyner (DB New York Jets)

UA is in BIG trouble....STA might be the best HS team in the country...UA may not be the best team in their county.

Yeah I definately thought that they would match STA up with a real big hitter in Ohio. UA is nothing to sneeze at but STA has the most D1 talent I've ever seen on a starting lineup. Well other than Dallas Skyline from a few years back.

I'm surprised STA didn't go against teams like Elder, St. Iggy, Colerain or Glenville. I thought the Herbstreit classic was supposed to match the best teams OOS with the best OH has to offer.

Glenville vs. STA would have been great, but the Glenville guys are locked in with St. Ignatius, which will still be a great game.

UA is going to get flat-out murdered, though. Their only hope is the travel distance; if it plays a factor it will allow UA to hang in for the first half.

I was under the impression that because of economic factors, the Columbus portion of the Herbstreit Classic was going to focus on Columbus-area teams and two out-of-state teams. It would certainly be a better matchup to put Aquinas and Orange Lutheran against the likes of Glenville Colerain, and Elder, but that costs more money and I don't think the Herbstreit Classic is exactly raking in money hand over fist.

But yeah, for OSU's purposes it works out well that Aquinas is coming here regardless of the matchup. It can only help with Joyner et alia.

Where would he play for us? I've talked to talent evaluators in Florida and they say they see him at safety and not corner. They say they see him as a Bob Sanders type player in the future. The person I was talking to is a Miami Hurricane fan, and he said that they would play him like how they played Brandon Merriweather a few years ago.

Buckeyes in the mix

Do you think Ohio State can win the recruiting battles for cornerbacks Joshua Shaw and LaMarcus Joyner?

I certainly can see Ohio State landing at least one of these two big-time cornerbacks.

Shaw, from Palmdale, Calif., has been one of the hottest defensive prospects in the nation since about mid-spring. He's No. 3 nationally at cornerback and could continue to climb up the charts. Shaw will take an official visit to Ohio State for the USC game, and it looks as if the Buckeyes are the team to beat.

Meanwhile, it appears Joyner also will visit Ohio State that weekend. While I think the Buckeyes have a shot, I still would give the edge to Florida State. On a side note, Joyner and his Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas teammates will play Columbus (Ohio) Upper Arlington on Saturday at the Big Horseshoe, so Joyner will have two trips to Columbus in the next few weeks. That certainly could help the Buckeyes.

Let get his sig first and the coaches can decide that later. Bottom line is this kid finds his way to the field sooner then later. He is a football player!

Sounds like a deal to me man.

But if I recall correctly, JT lets recruit's choose where they want to play first. Joyner has been pretty adamant that he want's to play safety before corner, so I can see him at either FS or SS.

Looks like a beautiful day in the 'Shoe - lots of blue sky.

14-0 Aquinas early. Cody Riggs had a pick to set up the 2nd TD.

Just spotted Cris Carter on the Aquinas sideline. And Upper Arlington's QB is the son of Craig Cassady and the grandson of Hopalong.
