Large Terrorist attack in Paris

The west has done plenty of killing in its own right. What exactly has it accomplished?
It seems to me like attacking is just asking for perpetual war and a whole new generation of terrorists who hate the west and have nothing to live for.

The Middle East and Muslims need to stand up and police themselves. They need to snuff out the extremism which has fueled ISIS from within- is that realistic or even possible? I don't know, but nothing else will work.

That said, the international community needs to come together and resolve Syria right now. That won't exactly be easy, either.

I know this is not the politically responsible thing to say,and obviously will never happen, but there should just be mass bombings at any known location of ISIS. There will be mass civilian casualties, and will be a very sad thing to happen, but the way ISIS is advancing, but there are already going to be mass civilian casualties by the hands of ISIS. But at least then ISIS would be destroyed, or close to it.

And then a brand new generation would be filled with hatred and resentment for the people who bombed them. With terrible lives and nothing to lose many would be driven to terrorism themselves.

Once again, the international community needs to secure Syria, but indescriminate bombing will only make the problem worse.

That accomplishes nothing. They have less regard for those civilians than we do.

Honestly, I don't think there's anything "the West" can do that will really matter or get ISIS/AQ/etc. to stop and disappear. Even pulling out of the Middle East entirely (no trade, no embassies, etc.) wouldn't sate their hate and desire to see the US and Western Europe destroyed or brought under their thumb.

What does that have to do with anything?

What he's saying is our priorities are entirely fucked up in this country. We're soft to their way of thinking, and stupid assed debates about safe space and who gets free food/schooling/etc look silly to an international terrorist group that have burned people alive.

ISIS won't hit our military, but eventually they will hit us at home. And they have made the calculation, right or wrong, that our populace can be cowed. They're wrong (probably), but while we debate stupid shit like safe spaces and other stupid 1st world problems, ISIS and other terrorist groups are getting bolder because those that could stop them, aren't doing so.

They didn't attack France because the French are attacking them - they attacked the French because they saw a soft target that would get them attention (or whatever you want to call it)....they have shown the capabilities to pull off coordinated attacks and obviously the will to do so. We either match it with the will and capabilities to deal with them, or we don't and the problem continues to grow.

Yes this means boots on the ground. This means getting the region involved in helping to clean up the mess. Hell even invite the Russians and Syrians into the coalition. France isn't a NATO member, so it'll probably happen under the UN, but it's certainly going to happen and the military of the United States is going to bear the brunt of it.

Yeah - the French don't fuck around...their military is legitimate and their political leaders are far less restrained than even your most war-hawkish Republican....
For all the "French military defeats" bullshit ... their historic defeats don't reflect the courage and determination of today's French army. (And that Napoleon fellow won a few battles ...)

I admit to being a big-time Francophile. Seeing innocent French blood being spilled by these savages isn't any less horrifying to me than what happened on 9/11. Fuck ISIS.
