I watched The Holdovers last night. I know it's got a great rating, but I wasn't expecting much. There have been many movies that I watched b/c they were acclaimed but I found them incredibly boring. The Master by Paul Anderson comes to mind. I thought it was horrible/boring.

But I thought The Holdovers was great. It's not for everybody. I imagine if I was younger I wouldn't like it. But I'm approaching 50 so any good movie about older men going through a crisis will be an appeal to me. And Paul Giamatti is great. Reminds me of his character in Sideways. It's a joke that he wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for that. He should win for this. Far more impressive performance than Murphy in Oppenheimer.
