Forty years ago this week (February 2, 1979). Man, do I feel old.

Sid's death was the symbolic end of punk rock era in England, and solidified him as a pop culture icon a la James Dean. Sid will foerver be "The Punk".

and he will forever be 21 to all of us. The world never saw a guy like Sid or Jimi Hendrix grow old.

As the world very much sees me getting older every day I find that type of thing more interesting.

Might have to rewatch Miller's Crossing tonight. Dialogue is a Top 5 all timer.

Daryl Dragon, the cap-wearing "Captain" of pop band The Captain and Tennille, has died. He was 76.

Dragon passed away on Wednesday of renal failure at a hospice in Prescott, Arizona, according to spokesman Harlan Boll, as The Associated Press reports. Toni Tennille, Dragon's ex-wife and longtime musical partner, was by his side.

Sad news. Both were musical thoroughbreds. Dragon was the son of Carmen Dragon, one of the great composer/arranger/orchestrators. He was best known for a great version of "America The Beautiful' which was widely performed by high school bands (good ones), as well as college and semi-professional bands.

Toni Tennille is the daughter of Frank Tennille, a singer who was semi-popular in the 1930s. He was featured with the Bob Crosby band, probably before they had made the final transition from being the Ben Pollack band, 1934-35.
