LB Andrew Sweat (2011-12 B1G Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner)

Scout $

Andrew picked up an offer from PSU and has them on his short list with tOSU and Michigan. He is looking for offers from Florida and ND soon. In March, Andrew will visit tOSU with Mike Brewster...not a Junior Day though...just a trip to see things...FWIW.

It's amazing how many recruits mention either Mike Adams or Mike Brewster in their updates concerning OSU.

Looks like some big-time targets will be coming up for the OSU Pro Day weekend.

I agree...

If Brewster and Adams can get half of the guys they have targeted we should be pretty well off with the talent in-state the staff is targetting...

Film on both sides of the ball.

Pretty impressive. He doesn't blow you away with athleticism but his instincts are going to make him special. Very reminiscent of Hawk in the sense of him getting his nose to the ball so quick. He also gets downhill in a hurry and uses great form tackling...once he hits you, you're going down. I love this offer.

Here is a thread on Sweat from a ND site.

They seem pretty confident, which worries me since I think Sweat is the most instinctual linebacker we're going after this year(with the physical presence and athletic upside to accompany it).

I think Sweat, out of all the linebackers we're going after, would be the one most capable of making an immediate impact. He just understands what's going on at all times, knows how to control his body and avoid getting caught up in traffic, and finishing the play with authority.

Here is what I can say:

OSU reportedly had a slight lead for Sweat and I don't think that has changed. He will be getting the full court press from Brewster, Adams and the gang this weekend at the OSU Pro Day. Let's see who he has as his leader after this weekend. I feel very good about where OSU is with Sweat right now. Long way to go, but I feel good about things as they stand.

I forgot about the pro day. Here's hoping that sways him back.
I don't want to stray too far from Sweat, but Notre Dame recruiting him
got me thinking. Does Sweat really seem like a 3-4 linebacker? I don't
think he could play on the outside, and he would probably have to put
on at least 20 pounds to play the middle. He strikes me as a classic
Sam 4-3 linebacker. Am I wrong?
