LB Ross Homan (official thread)

In my opinion, Ross deserved it HANDS DOWN! Who's the last kid that had 1400 yards rushing on offense, and 180 tackles or however many on defense?

I would have to agree, Mr. Football is supposed to be about the best "football" player, not the kid with amazing offensive stats. Its become like the Heisman, a popularity contest.

Chris Wells considered the #1 prospect in America and doesn't win Mr. Football in his own state? Something is out of whack here....:(

(sorrty to be heading off topic, but...) Kind of like Teddy was the national defensive player of the year, All-American MVP, and everything else and the award want to (see-you-in-jail) Ray Williams

Monroe got as far as they did by the kid named Tad Kilborn who injured his ankle early. But that was about all they had. Monroe hadn't faced a D like that all year. (Sounds like the other teams in the playoffs facing CW hadn't either) The one thing I heard about Homan (from a Monroe fan which I am not) was that he received 3 personal fouls in that game. I hear he punched one kid in the helmet. hoping this isn't a sign of thnigs to come.

On BN it may have been homerism, but someone said he had 2 personal fouls, one a hard hit that was questionable and the slap after he was tackled and someone tried to twist his knee on the ground. Either way, a little mean in your LBs isn't all bad, look at Vrabel.

I agree. I've seen him several times, and he always meets ball carriers in a bad mood...

I think AJ Hawk in terms of nastiness on the field and not off the field.

Remember AJ when he got his helmet ripped off he wasnt very happy. Sometimes in high school you have the players that arent very good just come in and take shots at the best players to try and get their head out of the game, not saying this was what happened just a possibility.

Actually, that did happen several times against Ross this year. Several teams went blatantly low on him in an attempt to knock him out of the game. I think he missed time in one of the games for it.

Ross finished 2nd to Carter in the Mr. Football race, according to Cleveland.com. Said he was followed by Nate Davis and Tyler Moeller. Good to see some defensive guys up there. Carter certainly is worthy of the award.

HOAT -- I was at the game. The one play was total BS. Ross layed the kid out, it was a good (very good actually) clean but extremely hard hit. The ref threw his flag for no reason other than the kid might have lost his appetite for a few days.

The second one, Ross was getting his knee twisted under the pile and he started thrashing his foot around, half-kicking the kid to get his leg free. Certainly something I would think about doing instead of having some little prick tear something in my knee.

Don't worry about Ross off the field. He's about as calm and mellow as they come. Though I do have a hilarious story about what Ross & his buddy did to a friend of theirs on Thanksgiving.

Their buddy called and asked what they were doing. They tell him they're at a friends house and that she's having a bunch of people over for a movie. They all park their cars at this girls house and hide down low so this kid doesn't see them. Next thing you know, he rolls in and walks down the basement. The girl is actually having a family Thanksgiving Party and dude is totally embarassed.

Thanks for the clarification Cav. Like I said it was from a Monroe fan so I took it with a grain of salt. I'm sure the Monroe fans had their own take on everything in that game. They got dominated and didn't like it. I agree that you like the LB's with a bad attitude. Hope he has a great career with tOSU.

For clarification on the Mr. Football award. Wells wasn't on the ballot because he wasn't player of the year in his division. You have to be player of year (either defense or offense) in your division to be voted in.

That also explains why Teddy Ginn wasn't on there.
