LB Storm Klein (Official Thread)

Wrong. It's called libel, i.e., "A published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation." I don't have to be a lawyer to know this...

Not just a false statement, but the person who published it must have knowledge that it was false or with reckless disregard of whether it was false or not. Those are very difficult to prove.

I deleted my comment because this thread is not in the poli board. I won't respond here other than to say this. It's not important to Storm Klein what the present law is in ... where was it.. Maryland?

Let's move on

HANOVER -- It is a mere 50 miles from Licking Valley High School to the Ohio State campus.

For Storm Klein, it feels like 500. An offseason of turmoil is coming to a close for Klein and his Ohio State teammates, and the Valley graduate was happy to simply steal a few hours away from the spotlight.

The spotlight he is under when he returns home has a far different feeling. At Valley, Klein stands larger than life -- literally.

"I said, 'You look big to me,'" Valley coach Randy Baughman said. "'Can you imagine how big you look to these little guys here?'"

Klein and Ohio State teammate Nathan Williams were counselors at Valley's annual youth camp Wednesday. Klein and Williams were helping Valley assistant T.J. Baughman run the ball-carrying drills.

Patience and Hard Work Finally Paying Off for Klein
By Tony Gerdeman

When he committed to Ohio State back in October of 2007?nearly 16 months before he could even sign a Letter of Intent?Storm Klein knew that it was rare for freshman linebackers to just show up and immediately move to the front of the line.

Playing high school football less than an hour from Ohio Stadium, he was aware of the impact made by Andy Katzenmoyer as a Buckeye freshman back in 1996, but he was also aware that that wasn't an every day occurrence.

COLUMBUS -- Patience was just another lesson Storm Klein had to absorb when he went off to college.

The Licking Valley graduate was a star running back who led the Panthers to a state championship game in a storied prep career. But everyone brings storied prep careers to Ohio State.

After enrolling early, and focusing on defense, Klein has worked his way up after two years as a special teams contributor to a starting middle linebacker.

"It's been a long wait," Klein said. "But I had some predecessors like (Brian) Rolle, he was a great role model, and Ross Homan, you're just happy to have guys like that to learn from."

Storm is good linebacker. He had one pick last game. Other than that he hasn't done much. We need to stop pulling Sabino. Storm just doesn't make as may tackles at the line or in the flats. Miami is going to be test. The middle backer has to be either one or two in tackles this week for us to win down south! Play Bino!:oh:

OSU?s Klein built to handle rough stuff

Ohio State middle linebacker Storm Klein is strongest against the run, but he has improved his pass defense this season.

Storm Klein and his fellow Ohio State linebackers will gather in front of the television tonight and get a nice preview of next week?s showdown against Wisconsin.

Ohio State is off today. Wisconsin plays at Michigan State before heading to Columbus next Saturday.

?The linebackers are going to get together,? Klein said at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center earlier this week. ?We?re just going to take a peek at them for a while and enjoy the game, and then we?ll be in here the next day going over the film breaking it down.?

Playing the Badgers figures to be Klein?s kind of game. Though their passing under Heisman Trophy candidate Russell Wilson can be potent, the Badgers prefer to grind it out with the run game.

?I like playing against the run, but that?s just me,? Klein said. ?I like to hit people. I?m physical. That?s why they?ve got me in.?

A 240-pound middle linebacker, the Licking Valley graduate often doesn?t play on passing downs. So next Saturday figures to be a busier day than usual for Klein.

?We?re going to be in base defense more,? he said. ?This is the front seven?s Super Bowl. It?s going to be a battle up front.?

Neal C. Lauron | Dispatch

He committed to Ohio State early in his junior year at Licking Valley where he was a three-sport star, including baseball and wrestling. Considered primarily as a college linebacker prospect, he was a standout running back in high school, amassing 99 touchdowns and more than 6,000 yards rushing for teams that advanced one year to the state finals and another to the state semifinals. He enrolled early at OSU, in the winter of 2009, but also went on to join current offensive line teammate Jack Mewhort on the United States junior world championship football team the summer of 2009.

Q ? How much do you miss being a running back?

A ? Honestly, not that much at all.

Q ? Then how much do you miss being out there on the field for almost all of a game like you often were in high school?

A ? I played mostly offense, but they put out there on defense when they needed me, so yeah, that has been a transition.

Storm Klein won't get to play in bowl as Ohio State senior
Father disappointed by NCAA bowl ban
Dec. 22, 2011
Written by
Tom Wilson
Sports Writer

HANOVER -- After waiting patiently for two years, former Licking Valley standout Storm Klein earned a starting spot on the Ohio State football team.

Klein played mostly on special teams his first two seasons with the Buckeyes. But this year, he started every game at middle linebacker.

Klein is hoping for a huge senior season. After the NCAA banned the Buckeyes from playing in a bowl game in 2012, it will be somewhat of letdown.

When the Buckeyes play Florida in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2, it will be Klein's last bowl game as a Buckeye.

Klein's father, Jason Klein, was not happy and was surprised with the NCAA's one season bowl ban announced Tuesday.

"We were definitely surprised," he said. "I think it sucks for the players that did nothing wrong. They are getting punished for what other people did.

"Those players who got the team into this mess will get to play in two bowl games. It's just not a good thing. I haven't really had the chance to talk to Storm about the bowl ban because he is getting ready for the Gator Bowl. I'm sure he's not happy."
