LB Storm Klein (Official Thread)

You saying "but wait" "she might not press charges" as a defense isn't acceptable. Storm is a linebacker at tOSU. I only say this because on defense you damn well better be able to play with a controlled rage. You certainly better be able to control it in life.

THAT is NOT what I said. Victims don't press charges. The State does. But when the victim refuses to cooperate or even sometimes when they ask charges to be dismissed, they are. That doesn't mean Storm didn't commit the crime.

I only said that would put Urban in a precarious position of having to determine why the charges were dismissed and whether his dismissal from the team would still be warranted.

My post was two-fold: 1) Kid hasn't been convicted of anything and we don't know much about what is alleged to have happened so it's a bit unfair to convict him on a message board; and 2) if the charges are dismissed, that doesn't mean he didn't do it and Urban would still have a decision to make.

But wait Urban - she might not press charges.

Sheesh.

Again, not what I said.

Sorry if I am being thick or if this has already been explained, but how does this not free up another scholarship spot for Urban to use?

Storm is a senior. Unless he would, for example, get an extra year due to a medical exemption via application to the NCAA, his scholarship is already going to be available for 2013.

Klein pleaded not guilty.

From the Columbus Dispatch:

Klein's defense team indicated that the alleged victim showed up at the apartment unannounced to talk about their failed relationship, started raising havoc and was forcibly put outside the apartment front door by Klein, who then locked the door.

http://www.buckeyextra.com/content/stories/2012/07/07/07-klein-pleads-not-guilty.html

The story adds that Klein has pleaded not guilty and quotes Urban Meyer as saying that his status would be "re-evaluated" if there is a change to the criminal charges he faces.

Hmmm. I originally was 100% against Storm in this situation. I have ZERO tolerance for hitting women, but after the response Klein gave I had to pause a little. Suppose this chick is seriously loony over not still being with Storm and went batshit crazy at his apartment. He has the right to try and excuse her from the premises and it doesnt sound like he struck her but restrained her and put her outside the door and locked it. Having worked security at bars and concerts, I have seen first hand how crazy bitches can really be and when you are trying to restrain them, they can actually do more damage to themselves than you would do to them. Of course, if he calls campus police who knows what happens anyway.

Now, if it comes out that she is battered and hurt because he used "force", he deserves what he gets. If he did what he could to try and avoid a more serious situation, he should get the benefit of the doubt. Very tricky situation here maybe.

Okay....We don't agree on what you said...however...can we agree that we both want the BUCKEYES to crush everyone this year?

I ask all to put aside any hopes of a new schollie opening or seeing somebody that you might think would perform better for our Buckeyes than Storm at the coveted middle linebacker spot.

The reason I ask is that Storm's story could be spot on and if so then regardless of our opinions of Storm as a football player there is not many things worse than being wrongfully accused and moreover to be judged for it.

Domestic abuse is an awful crime but it is just as awful to be attacked by an ex and do nothing back only to find yourself in handcuffs because she accuses you of physically assaulting her.

We all will see how this shakes out and of course if he did indeed abuse a women then well he needs to be punished and we all should hope he gets help.

I like the move by Meyer here. He's got to send a statement to some of these kids that playing for OSU is a privilege and standards are much higher than a normal college kid. I don't care what the back story is, if these allegations are true he doesn't deserve to be on the team. I will never be a apologist for a guy who uses physical force on a girl. I get that some out there probably have at one time or another and it's despicable....regardless of how crazy she was, your a puss if you have to hit her and it's probably your own fault for getting mixed with her in the first place.

I hope he is found innocent and reinstated. If found guilty, then letting him go from the football team is the only option in my opinion. I'll wait until the facts get sorted out.

This should be the idea of everyone. Hope he is falsely accused, acquitted, and reinstated. But if not, Urban's decision was the best.
