So far two Purdue players have opted to forgo their senior year for the NFL

1. Purdue, SS, Bernard Pollard
Purdue University strong safety Bernard Pollard, one of the top junior secondary players in the country, will forgo his final season of college eligibility to enter the 2006 NFL draft, ESPN.com has confirmed. While scouts are precluded from addressing a prospect's potential until they officially file paperwork with the NFL and are cleared for the draft, the consensus is that Pollard will be an early-round selection. Some scouts surveyed on Monday evening by ESPN.com assessed that Pollard could be a first-round choice but also cautioned that the evaluation process is still in its early stages.

Purdue starting strong safety Bernard Pollard informed coach Joe Tiller in a fax that he will skip his senior season to enter April's NFL draft. The friction between Pollard and Tiller wasn't a secret. The coach at times worried the hard-hitting safety was too emotional and banned him from talking to the media briefly this season.

2. Purdue, DE, Ray Edwards
Purdue junior defensive end Ray Edwards has decided to forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL draft. Edwards told the Indianapolis Star after the Boilermakers' 41-14 win over Indiana on Saturday that he would enter the draft in April. "My grandmother raised me,'' Edwards told the paper. "She's 63 years old and she's still working nights. I've definitely got to retire her and make things better.'' Edwards, who said he is convinced he'll be a high-round draft pick, was expected to be one of the Big Ten's best defensive ends but struggled and lost his starting job after six games.

Edwards really suprised me.. Coming into the season I thought he was the best DE in the conference and had potential to be an AA this year. Needless to say that he did not not live up to the potential I thought he had.

I heard on the radio a day or two ago (I can't remember what show) that someone was predicting Purdue to have a great year next year and challenge for the Big 10 title due to the fact that they have all 11 defensive starters returning. There goes that argument...

Phil Steele had them winning the league in his magazine. But he also had Michigan ahead of tOSU so I guess that proved how much he knew. :biggrin:

you sure they weren't talking about this year, when they were returning all 11 starters on D and didn't play OSU or UM?
