Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

His shooting % is awful for the series. What position he is playing from is irrelevant. His high turnover #'s, his shooting % in the fourth quarter, and the fact that Wade is barking at him to be more aggressive is relevant.

Through 3 games of the NBA Finals, he is playing more like Shawn Marion than Scottie Pippen, and certainly nothing like MJ. He's going to get his ring, but it will come with a price.

there's a lot more to basketball than stats. saying what position he is playing doesn't matter is ridiculous. if you are playing the point you have to be able to know when to be aggressive and score and when to be a distributor. its like ignoring the fact that a great center is supposed to not just score inside but dominate the boards and block shots.

scottie pippen was a lock down defender and a guy who could play the point. that is exactly what lebron is doing. this marion lebron comparison is just your attempt at a low blow, which is fine. but is a ridiculous analysis of the game.

there's nothing to compare to Jordan anyway. For one thing, Jordan is a different animal and a completely different player. For some reason, he's what everyone is compared to. Lebron is much more like Magic Johnson on the court. But alas, his career will be measured in rings, and until his career is over, there's not much to talk about on that front.

not to mention that if the Heat win a ring this year, there are two more Ws to be had.

If LBJ goes for 30+ each game and wins the Finals MVP you can still argue he didn't play that great in games 1-3. this series is far from over and I find it hard to beleive that Lebron will just sit back and score 17 points a game en route to a title.

the bottom line is D-Wade is playing closer in this series, which is the finals, while LeBron has now been forced into facilitator mode. And I say forced, because in game 2, he was chucking and bricking. Last night he passed up open shots and driving lanes, and D-Wade let him know he didn't like the passive play. And in game 1, LeBron had an ugly 4th quarter while Wade closed out the game.

If things were to carry out the same way, and D-Wade wins Finals MVP, LeBron will look diluted. He'll have his ring, but the Pippen comparison will be as strong as ever....

i highly doubt this is how he will be viewed at 26 years old.

the way he played yesterday was smart.

If it was so "smart" Wade wouldn't have ripped him a new one.

He played passive.

He did but I think that's what is best for Miami. Let him create plays for others and let Wade close the game out. If he tries to close the game out like he did in game 2 then Dallas could come back and make this interesting. If he is smart, he will play solid defense, use his nice passing skills, and create plays for his teammates for open shots.

I don't disagree with that, but that's not entirely true either. LeBron took 3 shots in the fourth quarter last night, 1 being a breakaway dunk.

He had other opportunities to attack the rim, especially in the 4th quarter, but deferred to other role players, and Wade. That was why Wade ripped him. Do you want a 20 foot jump-shot from Chalmers, or an attacking LeBron at the rim?? LeBron was sooo passive last night it was beyond being a facilitator...he didn't want to shoot.

It was essentially game 5 against Boston, but luckily D-wade was on the court to take over. Not to mention, we talk about LeBron opening up the court, etc...last night D-wade did his damage in the 4th, by attacking Kidd from the wing. He hit a pull up 18 footer, came down and knocked a 3 in off the dribble, slashed for a lay-up, etc...

I'm not being unfair to James, it just is what it is. They let Kidd check Wade 1 on 1 in the fourth, and Wade burned them. When Wade did get the double, LeBron had a few assists, while Wade would get the hockey assist. But LeBron was never looking to score out of the double even when Dallas brought it. Dude was 1-3 on shots, and passed up numerous other looks/plays at the rim.

i really don't think you understand how they run their offense or are coached to run it.
