48% of Americans dislike LeBron James.

Before he left for Miami he had one of the highest "likeability" scores in America for athletes. Taking all bias out of it, it really is sad what he did to his reputation and "brand" with one decision.

You'll never here it from Nike, but I've heard in the last year and a half his Nike related sales are down nearly 35% from 2009-2010 related to LBJ. That would account for shoes, other related merchandise (posters, labeled clothes, miscellaneous product).

Let's be realistic though, the more championships he wins the more ground he makes up. Nike isn't innocent in all of this. They thought the move to Miami made financial sense, assuming he dominated the NBA.

If you want to keep score on the LeBron and Nike, your sheet looks as follows.

0-1 on championships
0-1 on MVP's

D-Wade's value as a Jordan brand member loses value every game he sucks and is over 30(Owned by Nike).

This entire plan has just fallen flat on its face so far..from a championship perspective from LeBron's side and a financial side from Nike.

I guess one of my bigger points in this is that Nike completely mismanaged the situation themselves. And their sway has a lot of value....

No shit. Outside of Miami and the LeBron/bandwagon fanboys, no one gives a fuck about him anymore.

It's actually enjoyable watching the Heat play, because they play with ZERO heart.

LBJ and Wade went a combined 0 for 10 in the 3rd quarter tonight, ultimately leading to the loss. The announcers say they play so well together, but I'm just not seeing it. It's either D-Wade plays really well one night and Bosh goes off, or LBJ and Bosh going off. It's rarely Wade and James going off in the same game.

the thing is, they actually play better as a team when there are only 2 of the 3 butt buddies on the court, typically lebron and bosh. however, lebron is so anti-clutch, they need wade.

i think a sad reality is starting to sink in for miami. if they don't win the title this year, it may not happen for them at all. i think you're also going to see the heat's overall play start to deteriorate as the year goes on. the compacted schedule is going to wear a lot of teams down, and miami isn't exactly full of youth, especially because their big 3 have to log a lot of minutes each night.

It's unbelievable how efficient that team is when LeBron, Bosh, and James Jones are on the court together. Wade and LeBron are just so redundant. Certainly LeBron and Wade will have nights where they make everything, but for the most part teams are content letting Wade and LeBron settle for 18-20 foot jumpers and watch them shoot about 40% from there.

And the sad thing is, as Wade recovered from his ankle injury, James Jones has basically fallen out of the rotation in favor of Mike Miller. They've taken the purest three-point shooter in the league that was spreading the court for LeBron, and put another slasher on the court that brings more defenders into the paint.

TSteele is right though, Miami is at its best when only 2/3's of the Big 3 are on the court. And Spoelstra tries to work his rotations as much as he can so LeBron and Wade are staggered. But a team that talent-rich should not struggle the way they do at times. The playoffs will certainly be interesting this year...if they don't close the deal that Big 3 may get blown up.

They're still the best team in the league and frontrunners for the title (as I believe they were last year as well). But they thought they'd be unbeatable. Even Quitness himself said it would be "easy." That's why they got together so neither one of them would actually have to work for it. Not so easy now.
