Almost six years ago (July 13 2010) is the last time I posted or even clicked on this thread...

"The decision" had me jaded and I'll admit not being proud of what I posted:

My one and only hope for LeBron in Miami is that he chokes on a DICK.

That is all.

The ONLY thing that would extinguish my unrelenting disdain for LeBron was if he'd EVER to return to Cleveland; he'd have to either coach or play for the Cavs in a season that ended in Cleveland earning a world championship.

You see the reason for my disdain is rooted much deeper than "the decision" it started nearly 30 years ago on January 11th 1987. For those familiar with that date you may remember what happened in Cleveland Ohio that day...

Nine days before my 12th birthday (obviously I've been unable to let go) I attended the thrilling double overtime victory the week before in the AFC divisional round of the NFL playoffs. What a comeback win!

I know none of this actually concerns LeBron but, in my mind, every team from Cleveland has carried this burden with them in every playoff victory and loss.

Last night I finally celebrated a Cleveland pro sports team win a championship! Thank you LeBron!

And FUCK you John Elway!

LBJ has led his team in scoring, rebounding, and assists 35 times in his playoff career. Larry Bird (13) and Tim Duncan (11) are distant second and third, respectively.

Conspicuous by his absence is Michael Jordan, who spent most of his career surrounded by a supporting staff superior to any LBJ has had (particularly in Cleveland). Magic Johnson doesn't show up, either. Both he and Jordan benefited from HOF coaches and at least another top 50 all time teammate.

Posted this a year ago but it bears repeating. LeBron has been held to a standard no one player could achieve (including by some Cavs fans), and will finally get the recognition for leading the Cavs to a title. He's doing things no individual has EVER done in the NBA.

"Yeah, but Jordan got 6 rings."

And he sure didn't get them by himself, either.

Facing elimination three times down 3-1, LeBron played 133 of 144 possible minutes and turned in:

41-16-7-3-3
41-8-11-3-4
27-11-11-3-2

Only question is how long will Cleveland wait before they unveil an 8' tall statue?
And even his "bad" games are still absurdly good. What he is able to do even on those admittedly and honestly bad games is insane. That's the mark of greatness like Jake describes when LeBron has his own set of standards. He's not in this stratosphere of normal players.

People say so and so had a bad night, but then there's a LeBron bad night where he appears to effortlessly put up stats that no other human can put up consistently. And what he did the last 3 games, I mean, this last one like Kyrie said was a maestro performance. The little things he did to control the game should make any basketball purist smile. He set up the switches he wanted, attacked when he wanted, got others involved at the right times when he wanted. All with a stoic look of a killer- unphased by little bumps and trash-talk by Varejao, Green, and Curry. He paid no attention after fouls or dead balls. Like he was on a different planet with one singular mission.

LeBron could have 12 rings and the critics would still find a way to move the goalposts. Watching PTI yesterday, Wilbon said Wilt, Kareem, Magic, and Jordan are still on a different level than LeBron. The guy wins Cleveland its first title in 52-years in historic fashion, against a historic team, and LeBron isn't on that level? The Cavs have had an awful record when LeBron sits out over the last two years. There's a reason for that.

Extremely different eras. Those four are greats of course and it's going to be hard to argue but can you put LeBron in the top 5 All-Time with that group? I think so with what he has done championship-wise and his all-around game. LeBron is the type of player like Jordan and Magic that can play in any era and dominate. Could Kareem and Wilt be as dominate in today's game? I know there are currently no bigs as skilled as them today but could those two have the opportunity to dominate a game when the three ball is so important in today's game, along with the flopping and lack of physicality?

I suppose there are several people you could argue that are at a higher level than LeBron, but I don't get the Wilt argument. In spite of his incredible scoring, rebounding and blocking skill, he won 2 rings. The main beef against LeBron is the lack of rings, but otherwise his statistical totals are staggering as well. Chamberlain was amazing as well, but I don't see how you can easily place him ahead of LeBron.
