Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Fuck LeBron.

He can donate a billion dollars to St. V but it doesn't change the fact that he quit on Cleveland and their fans. Flat out quit and sabotaged the team in the process.

He's a hands on guy? Why didn't he try to recruit players and be more hands on when it came to building a team around him? Want to know why? Because he decided 3 years before it happened that he was going to bail to Miami. That's why. He went through the motions in the playoffs that final year and then humiliated the fans and the city on national tv.

Fuck LeBron. Now and forever.

LeBron James has donated $1 million to his alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary, to renovate the school?s gym.

James will be heavily involved in the planning.

?I?m a hands-on guy and this is going to be more hands-on because it?s something that means a lot to me,? James said. ?I?ll try to be hands on with coach [Dru Joyce II], with the school, with the floor, the locker rooms, the bleachers. ? I have a good sense of what stadiums or arenas or schools or gyms should look like.?

The project will be named the LeBron James Arena and will include a new gym floor, lighting, bleachers, locker rooms, restrooms and an upgraded training room.

James agreed he might have more than $1 million taste.

?I?ve got to keep it right there now. I?ve got to be responsible,? he said. ?I told coach Dru, ?We?ve got a budget. We?ve got to stay inside that budget.??

awesome job of giving back to his community.

Only in an Ohio-sports based web forum can an athlete donate to his High School and then get blasted for it.

I hated the way LeBron left Cleveland as much as anybody but it's been 3 years..... let it go. Let. It. Go.

You may want to brush up on those reading skills--no one is blasting LBJ for donating to his high school, as you erroneously suggest. Maybe they're blasting LBJ for leaving Cleveland or otherwise, but not for making the donation.

I'm not blasting him for donating to his high school. I'm just pointing that it's not exactly a selfless gift. He is getting value for it.

Could go down as top 3 player of all time. From the area. Drafted by his "hometown" (when it suits him).

Ends up plotting to leave, does nothing to help the team get better by recruiting players to come and play with him, quits in the biggest games.

Then he goes on national tv and embarasses the team and the fans by announcing he's leaving to join another team.

Add that to all of the other heartache that Cleveland sports fans have endured over the last 40 years and you tell us to let it go?

Yeah, ok.

Let me rephrase myself-

I understand the hate is not derived from him donating to his high school. I just found it amusing that a relatively thoughtful (not saintly) gesture could be spun in such a way.

Also, let me clarify. I thought "The Decision" was the most disgraceful event to ever occur in the world of sports media. I immediately became an anti-LeBron guy and seeing the Mavs beat the Heat in the Finals was completely amazing.

However, I eventually moved on. LeBron got his ring, and will likely win several more. The energy I used to put into my distaste for him is no longer worth it. Despite how it ended he still was the best thing to happen to Cleveland sports in decades and if he would have left with a little more grace he could have had his jersey retired there and been a hero. Pity.

I'm still pissed off some little bastard named Jeffery Maier interfered with Tony Tarasco at Skankee Stadium and cost what may have been a World Series appearance for my Orioles. That was 17 years ago.

I don't even like the Cavs, I haven't watched a full NBA game since the early 90s and I really couldn't give a fuck about any of it, but fuck LeBalding

I agree about he LeBron thing. I was disappointed. But it's been three years. I've let it go. Spending time being pissed about sports is a sad way to live.

So the Cooper years mean nothing to you now I take it?

Or how about how Earle Bruce was canned?
