Honestly, I'm a little disappointed Michigan fans have seemed to decided there is an end to the vast amount of rope they've given him since he won half a title in 97. The way I looked at it, the longer Lloyd runs the show up there the better... kinda like how they felt about Cooper, I guess.

A lot of it may have to do with the fact that he's Michigan's coach, but I just don't think he's that good. He's led some of the most uninspired games I've ever seen. Utah in 02 comes to mind.. a 10 - 6 win, where Mich was completely out played. Washington v. Michigan - where newweasle couldn't count.... Having to rely on miserable refs to beat Illinois twice. Losing to NW more than a few times..

All I know is I hope Michigan keeps Carr for a long, long time...

Thats bullshit!!! I hate Michigan more than anything but what all Buckeye and Meshitagain fans need to realize is Carr has done something no other Meshitagain coach has done since 1948...win a national championship. Bo talks shit about Carr but Bo didn't accomplish shit if you ask me. Hayes dominated Michigan in his tenure and Carr has dominiated OSU in his tenure.

Carr is a good coach I think the athletes need to take some responsibility for shitty play. Even Coopers squads had all-americans that didn't show up in the Michigan game and in bowl games.

I can't say I agree with your analysis. I'll give you that he won a title and Bo never did. If Michigan strives for 8 and 4, I guess Lloyd's your guy.

The Big Ten has Penn State now. I know they haven't done much the last couple of years but in the 90's they were a factor. Purdue, Minnesota, Wisconsin, are alot better now than they were in the 70's and 80's. I don't really care about anything but NC.

I'll take 1 NC over 10 Big Ten Titles!!!!!

Lloyd is good for making one underdog's season per year...Oregon last year, ND this year. Not being prepared to win against lesser opponents, no matter how flat your team may come out, is all on the coach. Hate them or not, scUM is obviously a premiere program in CF history...3 or 4 losses per year is not acceptable.

However, I encourage the pricks to sign his ass to a lifetime contract

BKB did the BIGTEN get better because of Penn State joining the conference?

Is Wisky better than they were in the 70's?

Is Purdue better now than they were in the 70's?

Is Minnesota better than they were in the 70's?

In the last ten years has NW been better than they were in the 70's?

The Big Ten used to be the Big Two. With scholly reductions and increased competition and better play from teams in the Big Ten there is no comparison to the Big Ten in the 70's and now.

Iowa has hurt Carr in the last two years. Tressel has hurt Carr in the last three. The Big Ten is just more competitive than it was!!!!!

Kippy - it's bound to happen, I'm affraid.

It may take 20 years.. 30 years.. whatever... but as much as it pains me to say it, there will come a time when Tressel will have to go. Hopefully it will be on his terms - i.e. after winning his 18th title in 20 years... but, I'd be a bit of a dreamer if I felt that was reasonable.

Jo Pa comes to mind...

If Bowden doesn't get his act together, he'll be "hanging on" too long as well... watch... It's already happening.

Your post BKB is proving my point thank you!!!!!! Carr is performing well in a Big Ten that is much more competitive than the 70's. God this guys is awesome doing all the research for me when i'm arguing with him!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!

Brutus, hey, I'm not trying to stand on your balls here, but the teams you threw out are not the reason why Carr's record is bad. Thats all. Is the Big Ten better with PSU? I don't know.. in 1994 sure... in 2004? I can't say the big ten is any better with them, honestly.

Brutus, you're basing your argument on an unproven assertion which you believe to be correct, but you have yet to back up. In fact, the data I've posted has worked against your point.

Try again.

For what it's worth, I'd say scholly limits are more the reason why the big ten is "better" top to bottom.

I must admit, I don't know much about Big 10 football in the 70's other than "Big 2, little 8 lore" I know MSU was competitive from time to time. I know Purdue was a good team in the mid 60's... Other than that, I can't really say much about the 70's..

In the 80's, Illinois went to the Rose at least a couple times..
Iowa did as well...
MSU split a title..
OSU and Michigan, of course...

I don't see you point.. teams go up, teams go down.. so what?

C'mon now BKB MY GOODNESS. Don't tell me Penn State hasn't hurt us or other teams in the BIG TEN!!!! They definately improved the competition in the BIG TEN. LIMITING SCHOLARSHIPS ALSO HURT TEAMS LIKE MICHIGAN AND OSU. THATS WHY THERE IS SO MUCH PARITY IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOW.

IN THE 60',70'S, AND 80'S OHIO STATE WOULD BE OFFERING EVERY PLAYER IN THE TOP 40 IN OHIO.

THE BIG TEN AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL IN GENERAL IS ALOT MORE COMPETITIVE THAN IN THE 70'S.

Maybe i should have rephrased my post a little clearer. I meant to include Jim Tressel in there, but I see that you all got my drift of the text. It seems we can't please every fan who considers himself as a fan but like you say "It's bound to happen" but hopefully not real soon. I agree that the competition is real tough now in the BIG10 and i sure do remember the BiG 2 as Ohio State and Michigan were once called. It just feels so damn good for us to be winning some real close games. I hope we can continue this trend although i realize were gonna lose some games that we should have one. Like the one in 2001 against Penn State. Shit happens I guess.
