His size and history of being constantly nicked up will.

I don't see how another year helped Hart as far as his NFL stock. His ceiling is still the same, he isn't going to show them he's any better than he was as a JR. Just another year of abuse on his body and more chances to show the NFL scouts he can't stay healthy.

Not saying Hart sucks, just the risk reward wasn't there for staying his SR year imo. Not much more to gain from a draft standpoint and a lot to lose.
The same thing can be said of Mike Doss when he came back for the 2002 season... he didn't have a lot to gain, NFL-wise, by coming back for one more year but he wanted that National Championship. Big difference between Doss's and Hart's decision: Doss realized his dream.

Kind of but safeties don't have the mileage on the tires measured as part of their NFL stock like a RB does. Also, to the best of my recollection Doss didn't have a well documented history of always being nicked up. All H20-3 can do with another year is cement that question to NFL scouts, based on game 1..its a fact now, not a theory.

I don't think he's the sure fire first rounder like I keep hearing from tsun fans anyway. The trend in the NFL has been to get RB's as cheap as possible(ie not 1st round picks) unless they are just that much of a difference maker. I honestly don't see Hart as anything special in the NFL.

uThis loss only furthers what I've been saying for awhile... if Carr loses again to OSU, he's gone. If he manages to pull out a W, he'll retire on a high note, as next year (vs OSU) looks awfully bleak on paper.

Upset brings Carr's future to forefront
Offseason contract change seems to have left door open

NEW YORK TIMES

Appalachian State's surreal victory over No. 5 Michigan on Saturday will resonate as one of the great upsets in college football history.

Instead of paying $400,000 for what was supposed to be an easy victory, Michigan finds itself the focus of two of the bigger story lines of the college football season: Will this be coach Lloyd Carr's final year at Michigan? If so, will Les Miles leave Louisiana State to help revive his alma mater?

Unbelievable loss will define Carr's legacy

By Andrew Bagnato

Associated Press

Lloyd Carr started his career at Michigan by winning 10 of his first 11 games against top-10 teams.
He won a share of the 1997 national title, the Wolverines? first in nearly a half-century.
Oh, and he lost to Appalachian State on Saturday.
Guess which one he?ll be remembered for?
Appalachian State?s 34-32 victory over fifth-ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor sent shockwaves across Car Flag Nation on college football?s first Saturday. But the most damage is likely to be felt in the Michigan football offices, where you?ll find the hottest seat in the country.

Mike's no first-rounder. Lack of size, speed and injury history knock him down to the 2nd at best. He's got terrific balance, vision and for a RB is a good pass blocker, but the first 3 reasons tell me he's a 2-3 rounder.
