Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

I wish the Spurs had never let Jack go! I feel your pain...

Wasn't he on Sac before that? I recall him giving us lots of problems through the years. I guess this is a good thing and a bad thing to say, but this team reminds me of the 3-peat champion teams, they only show up the second half. The let teams have a huge lead in the first half them stage a huge comeback in the second, it worked for those teams about 75% of the time, but those teams never let a team have 70 in the first half...

We're a half a game out of first with 12 games to go, I still like our chances, Gasol coming back will make a huge impact, and if we can get Bynum back before the playoffs I really like our chances in the west. For the championship, I don't know, there's a couple teams in the east, the Cavs and the Celtics, that seem to have our ticket this year.

Good show by the Lakers tonight, those Warriors are pesky little bastids! I thought it was going to be ugly, this game was really physical, but in the end, the Lakers split the season series with the Warriors. Very good chance these guys could see each other in the first round of the playoffs. The thing I can't figure out is how they always fall into the trap of playing GS's style of basketball, running up and down the court, that's not our speed, we slow the game down and work the triangle, passing the ball around from the center position until we find the best look.

Gasol may be back Wednesday, that's the rumor anyways, and that will be a relief. Going 4-2 since he went down is great, but I am a little more confident when we have him back in the middle, hopefully we get Bynum back in the next week or two so the team can all be on the court at the same time.

Cant wait to get healthy. Very happy with the 4-3 with Gasol out, I was pretty worried there for a second and we beat the two best home teams in the league at home.

I am not that worried about the Cavs to be honest. We haven't yet played them with Gasol, we lost by 4 the first game at Cleveland when he had Bynum but we lost by 3 at home when we didn't. I think in a 7 game series they just can't compete with our bigs, Lebron can't win every game for them.

with 7 games left, its a dead heat with the suns for the division and thus the 1,2 or 3 seed. i said over in the suns thread that you guys have a slightly easier road with the clippers and portland twice, but anything is possible. OC, any opinions?

With the current injuries, I'll be honest, it's hard to say we have an easier road. There's a lot of things to consider here, first off, we seem to be worse at home than on the road, if that makes any sense. We lose to teams we should dominate at home, and beat teams that should thump us on the road. Also, we're supposed to have Gasol back Thursday, but who knows, and Bynum is another mystery, without either of those two, we're not nearly as effective, since the rest of the teams is so hot and cold everyone just doubles Kobe and Odom and let's the rest of the team do whatever.

Also, we SUCK in Portland, I think they have won 7 of the last 8 times we've visited there.

i did not know that. also, i didn't know you guys were so banged up. i still think your schedule is easier, but it sounds like its more of a dead heat than i originally thought. we blew one vs denver tonight

Till we get one of our bigs back and have a consistent low-post scoring threat, every game against decent competition is going to be a toss-up. But the one thing I don't want to do is rush Gasol or Bynum back and have them get really seriously re-injured. Since we are as good on the road as we are at home, home court isn't a huge big deal to me to be honest.

Good win tonight. I hate that we spot good teams 17 points, but we fought back well in the second half and at this point, a win is a win.

They are saying beginning of the playoffs now for Bynum, and Ariza may not even come back this season. Ariza is an excellent defender with length, but I don't know where he would get minutes to be honest.

Dirk is indefensible when he is hitting. He is 7-1, shoots the ball from above his head, has a high arc on it, and likes to fade away. There is truly nothing you can do but stick a hand in his face and hope he misses.

Sasha is an incredible defender. Jason Kidd was a complete non-factor for the last quarter of the game because Sasha was hawking him. He took one step and there was Sasha swatting at the ball. I have no clue what our guard rotation is going to be in the playoffs, with Fisher hurt and Farmar playing excellent basketball. We have two spots for some combo of Bryant, Sasha, Farmar, and Fisher. I dont want to go without a point, but the way Sasha is shooting and playing defense, I don't know how you can sit him down. Its a good problem to have, but I would hate to have to figure out that rotation.
