Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight nearly finalized - Boxing - Yahoo! Sports

The much-anticipated bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao is all but set for March 13, a source told Yahoo! Sports.
Mayweather has agreed to terms and promoter Bob Arum is making a trip to Manila, Philippines, to finalize a deal with Pacquiao, the source said.
Las Vegas, Dallas and New Orleans are the front-runners to host the bout, which is expected to become the highest-grossing boxing match in the sport?s history.
Pacquiao is the top pound-for-pound fighter in nearly every major ranking, including Yahoo! Sports. Mayweather is No. 2 in most rankings and was No. 1 in nearly all of the polls before he briefly retired in June 2008. Cont...

Can't wait for this. Pacquiao is the man to beat at this point, hands down. I look for him to dominate this fight as well and entrench himself as a GOAT without a doubt.

Remember Mayweather only retired because he dismantled everyone he fought and there we no real contenders in the sport.

I think this is going to be one of the best fights we'll ever see though.

Eh....like Roy, Floyd has often missed solid up and coming opponents. Not taking a single thing away from Floyd or Roy, its just a matter of facts. Both have looked at legacy first, purse second, right to the title 3rd.

If Manny vs. Floyd gets signed its the best fight I've seen in my lifetime. I was born in 82. I can't think of a single fight that even comes close to this and I've always been a big boxing fan.

Boxer Manny Pacquiao may be softening stance on blood testing - ESPN
Pacquiao-Mayweather still possibility

Now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has dispatched Shane Mosley, talk immediately turned to the potential showdown with Manny Pacquiao, who has apparently softened his stance on the drug testing procedures that derailed their negotiations in January.

Pacquiao and Mayweather, universally regarded as the top two fighters in boxing, tried to make the mega fight in December and January.

The camps had agreed on all terms except for the way to handle drug testing for what many believe would be the biggest money fight in boxing history. The all-time pay-per-view record of 2.45 million was set in Mayweather's victory against Oscar De La Hoya in 2007.

Manny Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach thinks fight vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. 'will happen' - ESPN
Pacquiao-Mayweather gaining traction

NEW YORK -- Manny Pacquiao may soon turn his attention from campaigning for Congress to negotiating the details on the richest fight in boxing history.

Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, told The Associated Press on Monday that discussions could begin as early as Tuesday for a bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr., once results are in from the Philippine elections.

Pacquiao is running for Congress for the second time.

The matchup involving boxing's two most high-profile fighters was discussed at length earlier this year, but negotiations fell apart when the sides could not agree on drug testing protocol.

Both took different fights, with Pacquiao soundly beating Joshua Clottey at the new Cowboys Stadium near Dallas, and Mayweather routing welterweight champion Shane Mosley in Las Vegas.

I was born in 84 but one fight that could come close to the hype was the Oscar http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=7543&more=1#De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad fight back in 1999.
