RIP Manute.... seemed like a dude that made the most of his short life... Lots of charity including a celebrity boxing match.... and this

Bol was offered a post as minister of sport by the Sudanese government. Bol, who is Christian, refused because one of the pre-conditions was converting to Islam

Bol proved to be far more than a so-so player in an unusual body. He gave as much of himself as he could to help his people. This was written just a few weeks ago, a nice peace about his work off the court:

Manute Bol deserves more recognition for his work in Sudan - KansasCity.com

A great shot blocker, athlete, and man. One of my favorite basketball players of all time and a true hero. Manute died a poor man not because he wasted his money on drugs, cars, and women (I'm looking at you Antoine Walker and Shawn Kemp), but because he donated/used it all to try and help out his native country of Sudan - building hospitals and schools. The world needs more selfless people like Manute Bol. RIP
