This will be, necessarily, short. Having dispatched of Penn State, Ohio State (20-12, 12-7) plays Michigan State (26-16, 13-5) in the, I guess, 2nd round of the Big Ten Tourney. Here’s how the first game went, a 81-62 Spartan win on February 23rd. Here’s how the next game went, a 91-76 Spartan win on March 5th.

This will be the 3rd time these teams have played one another in the past 17 days. Although the Buckeyes played full throttle from whistle to whistle, they were simply overmatched by the talented, more experienced Spartans. Truly, this is Izzo Time of the year. And, Thad is working with a shorthanded group of young, inexperienced players, so he is probably more limited in what adjustments he can make.

Actually, this match-up may help Ohio State. The teams are very familiar with one another at this point, so perhaps Thad can come with an adjustment to blunt the MSU experience. Of course, Tom will not be sitting idly by, so we’ll see what happens. Teamrankings.com (a very nice statistical site, by the way) has given Michigan State an 88.6% to advance past Ohio State. Well, at least there is hope…

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM ET on Friday, March 11th. The game will be televised on BTN and heard on 97.1.
