McNabb once again getting racial crap....

I agree that McNabb should have ignored this completely. And some of you are forgettting that Narc Limbaugh has a track record on his show of saying racist things. Who can forget that he would play the Jefferson theme song when discussing Carolyn Mosley Braun? When discussing black leaders, he says ak instead of ask.

Why would anyone object to the theme song from The Jeffersons? It was a great show, and the theme song is just glorifying the upward mobility of black Americans who work hard and pay their dues. And as for the "let me ax you a question" reference, that was started by guest host Walter E. Williams, who I am sure you know is black himself. It was a response to the teaching of "ebonics" in Oakland public schools, a silly policy that deserves all the ridicule it has received.

Huh? It's not racism but it's OK for someone else to say it is?

Racism is a very serious charge and I don't think it should be thrown around irresponsibly.

I think it's official. We live in a cyclical world of political correctness. You can't be racist, you can't saying anything that might offend someone as racist, and you surely cannot call someone a racist. So can we talk about race anymore?

If not being a mobile QB makes one un-black then Leftwich must be the whitest black guy on the planet.

I swear to God half of Jax could get out there and run faster than him, but thats what gives me an even mild interest in the Jag's. They have a slow black QB and a fast white WR. Go figure.

Peter King pointed out in his column today the irony of Byron Leftwich (black qb) - Matt Jones (converted white wr) and Steve McNair (black qb) - Drew Bennett (converted white wr). He pointed this out because it doesn't matter anymore. But some people like this NAACP guy and Rush Limbaugh thought it was important to bring it up when I think its a non-issue.

Well I guess Peter King isn't so dumb after all, lol.

Seriously, as a white guy I don't even think about a QB being white or black anymore, its just stupid that an NCAAP guy would be so hung up on it.

I am a white guy and used to work as a security guard with a guy who is AA. We worked third shift and we used to have some great conversations about racial tensions and he helped me understand things from his perspective. There will always be more sensitivity to racial comments and more attention paid to racial comments by AA. They were (and still are in many ways although I like to think progress is being made) the oppressed. There is over 400 years of oppressive history that can never be "made up". The AA culture will always be recovering from that deficit even though the gap will continue to shrink.....hopefully. We are only 40 years removed from some pretty awful racial oppresion - seperate restaurants, bathrooms, back of the bus type of stuff happening when you think about it and even less to Rodney King and the Cincinnati race crap. When you dig a 400-500 year hole like we did, it will take a lot longer than 40 years to get out. It will be up to the oppressors to continue to go the extra mile as we are the ones that created the mess to begin with. Of course this is JMO.

This is going to get waaayy off topic real fast but I have to say my piece.

I always thought JMO stood for "Just My Opinion", therefore he wouldn't be "speaking for all white people". As for the "poor oppressed black guy bullshit", I think its pretty logical. JMO.

For the record both Limbaugh and the Naacp guy are racist. There statements have demonstrated them both to be so. In regards to racism I think i lot of the problem is generational, many of those who are in the baby boomer generation (and older), whether black or white have a pretty f'ed view of things. either all black people are bad or all white people are bad. then they raised kids probably with a lot of the same baggage they have.

Not that I really want to weigh in here, but here goes...

I think Jax was just saying is that he doesn't appreciate being blanketed into the "oppressors" group. Really we're just going the other direction into reverse-racism here where all white people are now "the oppressors"...

JMO :tongue2:
