Lost a soldier in my battalion during peacetime. Terrible thing to have to see.

For those who've had the misfortune of having to attend a military funeral..my hearts and prayers go out to you.

Selfless service--showing unselfish concern for the welfare of others. For those who've served in any capacity, I salute you.

For two of my four years I had the distinct honor of firing party details at the Arlington Nat'l Cemetary. One could not ask for a better setting in which to inter and honor the fallen.
Each instance was a reminder of what they had given. Row upon row of graves, as far as the eye can see.
It always left me with a very deep feeling of sorrow for the fallen troops.

I agree. It is a meaningful experience to go there.

(But it sure pissed off Mrs. Lee when she found out that her front yard was now an illegally seized Yankee cemetary:biggrin:)

Salute to all vets and recognition to all those currently serving in our Military.

This Memorial Day hits especially close to home as one of my cousins, Scott Kirkpatrick, was killed in August 2007 while on tour in Iraq. RIP Scott.

Today I marched in the Memorial day parade to honor the many thousands of fallen who have honored our country with their deaths. And for the many who have suffered wounds and loss of limbs in the defense of what we believe in and what America stands for.

I am humbled by their sacrifices

This is a day to remember all those that have died in battle for our freedom, for those still fighting today and for the men and women who died while in service. Today is very hard for many families and friends so take a moment out of your day and pray and be thanful. The children and I will take a moment of silence and remember Mark aka SAB.

This is just to thank all of the hundreds of thousands soldiers that have ever fought and died to defend this great nation of ours. On this Memorial Day Weekend 2008, I thank you for putting your life on the line for mine, even though I might not recognize that you do it every day of your life, not just one day out of the year. Thank you for sacrificing your freedoms to preserve and protect mine. And because of what you've done and are doing around the world, I can sit here at my computer, scribe my opinions without fear of being condemned. Thanks again. God bless America.
