Mentor's QB Bart Tanski was named Ohio's Mr. Football today per Plain Dealer

Is this the first time that the winner of Ohio's Mr. Football hasn't received any D-1 official offers when receiving the award?

Will the Mentor vs. X game be on ONN? I really can't wait to see this game...Tanski is one heck of a good QB and I wouldn't be surprised to see them give X a run for their $.

I am pretty sure that the game will be on STO, not sure about ONN.

My sons are excited for the game (5th grade and 8th grade). Players when went to my 5th grader's elementary school came through the school today for a pep rally type thing and players that went to my 8th grader's middle school did the same. Coach Triv did the same thing last year, where players go back to their respective elementary and middle schools. Really gets the young ones excited and also helps build a strong program mentality.

Mentor has a damn good spread offense but I honestly don't know if it will be enough to overcome St. X. Let's hope it is because if Mentor doesn't win, it will be 3 consecutive years that NE Ohio has gone without a state champion in any division.

Mentor outclasses Willoughby South - cleveland.com

State officials are considering a proposal to split Division I in half, putting Ohio?s largest high schools in an elite football division.

Consider this Exhibit A for those in favor: Mentor 31, Willoughby South 2.

The Cardinals were in a class by themselves Saturday night in Jerome T. Osborne Stadium in Mentor, none more than defensive end Ben Pike, who looked like a college player who had snuck back onto his old high school team.

Mentor (9-2) plays Strongsville (10-1) in a Region 1 semifinal next Saturday at a site to be announced early this week.

Mentor?s enrollment is twice that of South, which is one of the reasons Mentor, South and the old Greater Cleveland Conference parted ways 16 years ago. The Rebels hadn?t played Mentor since then.
