Avery Gach named Ohio State as a top school for him along with Michigan, Georgia, Penn State and USC. He mentioned loving the consistency the coaching staff has with him and talked about his great relationship with Frye and Day.
He’s visited each school so far this season besides USC, will be back at Michigan this weekend for their game against Indiana and may return to Ohio State next weekend for the Penn State game.

Avery Gach made his first trip back to Ohio State since camping with the Buckeyes over the summer and witnessed the team’s 37-17 victory over Maryland.
“It was a really good visit,” Gach told
Eleven Warriors. “I’d say my main takeaway was they’re for sure really interested in me. Every single visit I take there has been a good one.”
While on the trip, Gach checked in with both Justin Frye and Ryan Day.
“I talked to coach Day before the game and we just talked about how he was supposed to come up to my school (in the off week) but he couldn’t make it, so he apologized for that. He was thankful we were there,” Gach said. “Coach Frye and I talked about the offensive line, how my season was going and how the game was going to go.”
When Gach watched Ohio State on the field, he admired how the offensive line bounced back against the Terrapins after a poor first-half showing.
“The second half was better than the first,” Gach said. “Donovan Jackson looks really good and is having a good year. Obviously, they lost three guys to the draft on their offensive line. Two of the three are starting, too. It’s a big loss but they look pretty good.”
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Gach plays offensive tackle for Wylie E. Groves High School (Franklin, Michigan), but said he is open to playing anywhere on the offensive line in college. He’s yet to have any specific conversations with Frye in regards to where he envisions him lining up at the collegiate level, though.
“I could see myself bumping to guard in college or staying at tackle. I could even snap the ball as well,” Gach said. “We haven’t talked about it too much though. Wherever I can get on the field earliest (is where I’d want to play).”
Gach said he hasn’t put much thought into any sort of decision timeline but may start narrowing things down within a few months. In addition to Ohio State, Gach named Michigan, Penn State, Georgia and USC as schools he’s high on at the moment but said his recruitment remains open.
“An appealing aspect is they’re always competing for national championships and it’s close to home,” Gach said of Ohio State. “They’re one of the top schools I’m looking at.”
