I think you’ll find that most members of BP respect the academic institution

What we make fun of is that < 1% of their fans have ever been on campus

Shoot… 98% of their fans have never been in South Florida

I think Miami (of Florida) is a classic case of a school that would have a better reputation as a university if it dropped football. Academically, it's pretty solid. But the antics of the fans and the history of corruption surrounding the team make the school look bad.

Wouldn't need to drop. Just deemphasize it to the level of Rice or Tulane, build a 35K on campus stadium, and they'd be solid.

Actually Miami as a university has a pretty good reputation outside of sports. The antics of the fans don’t at all represent the actual alumni base. Most die hard Miami fans are similar to the Walmart Wolverine base, they never went and probably couldn’t get in. It’s funny how scUM, Miami and Notre Dame fans are all very similar. But those that actually attended the school tend to be more reasonable.

I hate to say it but add Tennessee to that list.

I know I know, it sounds crazy but the people I’ve met who actually graduated from Tennessee were actually reasonable and intelligent, and mostly did not care a whole lot about how the football team did.

Now the residents of obKnoxiousville, and other moonshine laden areas that support UToothless, are an entirely different story. Most of them have a 9th-10th grade education at best and are the type to chuck mustard bottles and golf balls onto the field.
