Nothing is sacred anymore. If you're a celeb you have to EXPECT that someone will snap a pic of you or take a video of you to post for everyone to see on Youtube. As shady as that is, it's the truth.

I say legalize weed and tax the hell out of it, anyway.

I really tried to give a shit when I first saw the picture... but I just don't.

same here

a slight blip on my "anything bad for scUM or its alumni is a good thing" radar but very faint.

I'll wait untill the pics of him blowing some guy surface, then we'll have some real fun.

my .02 is that he has probably lived a very sheltered life before the beijing olympics. i knew a few olympic hopefuls back in HS and they never ever ever went out. now that it is over, and he isn't training its obvious he is getting out and doing things he didn't do when he was training. weed is going to be at most parties he will go to. i don't care that he smoked. with that said, the mistake he made was allowing himself to be photographed. his image is literally worth double digit millions, and he has to protect that with everything he's got. hopefully he doesn't lose too much as a result of this incident.

all these pundits on TV talking about how terrible it is that he smoked weed are pissing me off. what's terrible is that he let himself be photographed.

I am sorry but I have a very good friend whose son is on a swimming scholarship at one of the better schools in the country and I know how hard he has worked to qualify for the NCAA's. Seeing this stuff about Phelps almost makes me vomit. Just because you won so many Olympic gold medals I think that he thinks he is above other athletes. If I were one of his sponsors, I would pull the plug on him immediately because you can get so many other athletes who are not only good in their sport but also know how to conduct themselves in their private life. Obviously, Phelps does not:!

By winning those golds, he proved he is above other athletes.

Just sayin'.

As far as how one should 'conduct themselves' in their private lives, I think that is a matter of one's opinion.

Phelps will become the poster boy of stoners everywhere if he swims to even more gold medals in '12, provided he's not banned from the sport or anything.

P.S. This thread needs more 'anti-doping' humor. Love the 'bogarts gold medals' tag though.

You CAN'T sponsor a swimmer/olympic athlete better than Phelps, the numbers prove it. And also, how is it any of our business about what he does in his PRIVATE life?
