Michigan chatter - 2005

I live in Delaware, and the people out here don't get it at all. Like the article says, they're aware of the game but don't have any sense of its significance. I've been wearing Buckeye-related clothes to work all week, and put a sign up on my door, and everyone thinks I'm nuts. Hell, even most of the Buckeye fans here (very few, and most didn't go to OSU) don't get it.

I think about this game all year, and now that its here, its pretty much all I think about. I don't understand how anyone who calls themself a "Buckeye fan" doesn't get all fired up about kicking scUM's ass.

The exact same thing here in Oregon. All they care about here is the Civil War(I do too, go ducks!) but don't really appreciate The Game. That's the reason I want to move to Columbus and go to Ohio St. when I'm older, to be with other people who appreciate the Buckeyes and The Game. Every day since the Northwestern game all I've been thinking about is OSU vs. scUM even though I'm a big Duck fan and live in Oregon. Nothing compares to this game and its significance to OSU fans.

you can add Quan Cosby to the list as well. He started recieving significant pt two games ago when brian carter went down and already has two TD's, one of them of the 40+ yard variety.

Good luck this week. You deserve to be in the BCS and i would love nothing more(save a NC) than to see you play nd. I don't understand why a close loss at home to texas is any different than a close loss at home to usc. Nevermind the fact that your only other loss is penn state. Regardless, I'll be pullin for ya and lookin forward to next sept.

High Lonesome,

I am sure this was addressed on another thread but I was really impressed by how classy your team was when we played you in Sept......when they took the field and kneeled in the end zone and when they all took a knee when one of our guys went down. I really got the sense that Mack Brown really disciplines his kids well. Anyway...I'm long overdue in not sharing that.

By the way, I am looking forward to next Sept too. Hope the tickets are less expensive next year!

I feel very strongly if Ohio State's biggest concern is a Freshman wide out, OSU wins by 40. So very rarely has a WR been the difference in this GAME.... That's not to say there haven't been some big days by WR's, of course. My instinct is running well wins this game (And again, I should have therefore voted "Hart" not Henne) Last time I can think of a WR's production being the difference maker it was Boston in 1998. But, I leave room for having forgotten someone.

Please don't say that. Last year Ted Ginn was one of Michigan's biggest concerns yet he still torched them. This game will be close, mark my words.

He tourched them in the return game. He made some big plays as a WR, in fact he lead OSU recievers. He still didn't score as a WR. MM can go for 500 yards as long as he doesn't cross the goal line.

Troy Smith, not Ted Ginn, was the difference in last year's game.

Whenever you see the commercial for the Gameday in East Lansing, they give OSU-Mich jsut as much publicity. I get the vibe that they think Gameday for a game of this magnitude (after the Texas destruction) would be a bit too much, but they want to recognize it heavily.

The only intelligent comments Mark May made this season was the prediction of who wins the Big Ten. In the last couple weekends he said that with Novemeber comes November weather - cold, rainy, wet, slick surfaces. He pointed out that the team with the best defense as well as the team that can consistantly run the ball will win the Big Ten. This actually makes alot of sense and SHOULD play in our favor. Hart has missed a couple weeks and Michigan will be a step slower than they would like to be against a smart, attacking OSU Defense. On OSUs offense, we have ran it down the throats of our opponents this season, allowing Smith to have over 400 yards along side of Pittmans 1100 yard season. We dont have (knock on wood) any injuries that are holding down our ball control abilities nor our defense so with that said - this weather favors OSU as Michigan will try to get the most of of Hennes arm in a wet atmosphere where fumbles and picks are bound to happen with the increased throws.

It is going to be pretty damn breezy too, which isn't going to help any of those wounded ducks Henne likes to toss up either. This could give Troy an advantage as he tends to throw a harder, tighter spiral.
