So I watched some press conferences…..wow. This dude seems legit. Very direct and focused. And tough as hell. No wonder he is squeezing every bit out of his team. Super impressed buy this guy so far. He sure seems like the kind of coach I’d want to play for.

I did not realize he was now coaching the basketball team. You might want to post this in the College Football forum unless you think he is taking over for Izzo

Michigan State basketball: Longtime assistant Dwayne Stephens to become Western Michigan head coach

Longtime Michigan State assistant Dwayne Stephens is leaving Tom Izzo’s staff to take the Western Michigan job, according to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. Stephens was a staple of Michigan State basketball for nearly two decades. He just finished his 19th season as an assistant coach for Izzo. He was Michigan State’s associate head coach for the last 10 years. Stephens will take over a Western Michigan program that has not had a winning season since 2017-18.

Stephens is a big-splash hire for Western Michigan. He was instrumental in developing many Michigan State beasts like Draymond Green, Adreian Payne, Branden Dawson, Deyonta Davis, Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr.

It’s yet another change for Izzo who lost key assistant coach Dane Fife to Indiana last year. Continuity on Michigan State's coaching staff had been a staple of the Izzo era. But with Stephens moving on a year after Fife left, Izzo will have to retool his staff yet again.
