Michigan WR Mario Manningham (official thread)

After watching Mario get separation consistently in the last 3 years, I really do not expect these times to raise a lot of concern among pro scouts.

While it is true that successful receivers like the Steve Largents and Fred Balitnikoffs of the world were not burners, they had the ability to separate no matter the speed of the cover.

[sarcasm]You obviously didn't read the comments about Robiskie that said a WR can't be a play-making WR if he doesn't have breakaway speed[/sarcasm]

He'll be past not only the db's, but also a few more wr, lineman, a few qbs and some rb's. At least on April 26th he will be.

If he falls, the Raiders would gladly take him near the top of round 2.

You didn't consider Mario a gamebreaker WR at Michigan?

Absolutely...but based on the conversation that has seeped over a few threads, I think he plays faster than his 40 time and I do not consider Robiskie a gamebreaker, but I do see him as a playmaker.

40 times don't mean much, it's really more about form and everything moreso than actual speed.
Exactly, as a Bears fan I always love to bring up Devin Hester's 4.51 at the combine. I wonder what everybody on kickoff and punt return think? He has speed on the field, he just didn't have discipline for the combine 40 time.

It's too bad Mike Barwis didn't get a chance to work with him.

Wait for it...

I think Mannigham and Hart should consider training with barwis and his speed conditioning program, maybe mario can get a 4.4 and hart a 4.5

NFL Draft - NFL draft preview and analysis from Pro Football Weekly

Two first-round, early-entry juniors — Kansas CB Aqib Talib and Michigan WR Mario Manningham — have been removed from the draft boards of multiple NFL teams because of character concerns.

...After hiring an agent, however, Manningham showed up in better physical condition at his pro day and ran considerably faster. He also distributed a letter to NFL team officials admitting that he "wasn't straightforward" during team interviews at the Combine, had failed two drug tests while at the University of Michigan and apologized for any confusion he caused as a result of being ?nervous and scared.?

"I don't use marijuana anymore - and I have passed tests since," Manningham wrote in the letter. "I know what is at stake for me, and my career. I am learning what it is going to take to be a professional. I am writing this letter because I just want a fair evaluation, and I want to be accountable for my actions. I am willing to be re-interviewed, re-tested, and to undergo any evaluation any team wants me to undergo...
