BuckeyeTrail

Michael Jenkins...does it again!!!
this is a phenomenal game to watch. I am loving it. Minnesota is just absolutely pounding the ball down alabama's throats. And they are looking pretty good in the trenches on defense as well.

my question is this......WHY IN THE HELL DOES MINNESOTA PLAY IN A DOME??????????????????? their biggest strength is pounding the rock, their big weakness is pass coverage...why don't they build a cheap outdoor stadium? Offer zero protection from the wind, but maybe put in some nice warm luxury boxes to help finance it.

Minnesota is currently a decent team and a decent program that is trying to get over the hump. Building a cold, harsh, outdoor stadium is just the way to do it. Minnesota would have an identity. Every tough player from the Midwest would seriously consider Minnesota. They would gain the reputation and image of being a tough, hard-nosed football team with a Woody Hayes-like "pound you and pound you until you quit" style of play.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, would want to go up there in November to play them. The wind and freezing cold would make it very difficult to pass, so you'd just have to suck it up and deal with the pounding, which minnesota would dish out.

Ugly game so far... lots of turnovers. If Minny didn't make mistakes they would be up by at leat 21 on Bama. At leat they got one of them back with the fumble recovery in the endzone for their first TD.

It doesn't get cold in Minnesota until Dec/Jan. Playing there in November would be like playing at Wisconsin or Northwestern. It wouldn't give them a huge advantage.

Gopher Football Stadium Fundraising Campaign

The New Brickhouse

A feasibility was released on December 8, 2003. It recommended going forward with an on-campus stadium. The recommendation called for a 50,000 capacity (expandable to 80,000) facility. The total estimated cost of the project is $222 million. This figure includes infrastructure work like site cleanup, parking, and road improvements.

If you are interested in supporting this campaign, you can make your check payable to the University of Minnesota Foundation, designating the "Gopher Football Stadium Fund (5990)". The address is:

University of Minnesota Foundation
McNamara Alumni Center
200 Oak Street S.E. Suite 500
Minneapolis, MN 55455-2010

One important component of this campaign is gaining governmental assistance for infrastructure needs, like road improvements and rerouting of roads in the stadium area. This will be necessary for stadium construction to begin in 2006 and to make the targeted opening date of September 6, 2008. It will be critical that the 2004 legislature approve funding for this work to keep the project on schedule. At the bottom of this page are some links for those wishing to contact their legislators and the governor regarding this issue

I wonder if ex-wolverine and his boyfriend Long Wang are sitting on their lovesac watching this game and rooting for the tide. I would suppose he's still pissed over the drunk Gopher fan spitting on his "chick."

It's midway through the third quarter and Minn already have lost 60 yards on penalties, many at some really silly moments. Only a six point lead, but double the yardage. This one is far from over. It would be very sweet to see Minn win against Bama!

Way to get the Big-10 some added respect, Minny!

A nice win in an even match-up against an SEC team that had the vast majority of the crowd on their side.

Gee, I knew we should have hired that Mason fella. :tongue2:

Good Win for the Big 10. I got home from work and saw Curry and Don Shula and the way they were talking i thought Minn. was down 20. Ithought the Alabama cheerleading was a little much.
No doubt...I was sensing a serious man-crush on Mike Shula as much as they praised him

grad - I'm assuming you meant a man-crush on their part, not on yours.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Of course...not that there, umm yeah its about me so hell yes there would be something wrong.

We heard so much about Mike Shula, I'm disappointed we didn't get to hear his shoe size or favorite item from the value menu at Taco Bell

This game was yet another reminder of what a great choice Geiger made in picking JT over Mason.

Minny was so physically superior to Bama it was sad. Only TO's, penalties and shitty red zone play calling kept it close. Mason's teams just can't stand prosperity.
