MLB General Discussion (Official Thread)

At first I thought the fat Giants fan that kept wildly playing to some camera that isn’t on, was a drunken idiot. Now watching him more I think he may be retarded.

If he’s special needs I’m going to feel bad, if he’s not…you have to turn drunken fucking idiot up to 11 to get me to honestly pause and wonder if you've got some Harbaugh in you.

Looks like it wasn't just me:

What the hell happened to baseball? These games all take 4 hours, each team uses 7 pitchers, it just doesn't do it for me.

200 fast food chicken sandwich commercials and manufactured drama. Time to watch another movie.

200 fast food chicken sandwich commercials and manufactured drama. Time to watch another movie.

A brief history (give me some room here);
  • hitters got ahead in the early 2000's, mostly due to steroids
  • pitchers adjusted and took back over, mostly due to velocity and defensive shifts
  • hitters readjusted with launch angle (Ted Williams had preached it since the 1940's if anyone was listening)
  • pitchers(well teams actually) readjusted, by having an army of guys in the bullpen that can throw 100mph and get three outs before they give up a run a high percentage of the time
and that's where we, generally, are today

The commercial thing, well...we passed the point of no return between just enough commercials to get more games televised and too many goddamn commercials a long time ago imo. It isn't just baseball. The only games I can sit and watch the whole thing are Buckeye games and that's getting difficult to be honest. Kids don't watch the whole game at all. Sports/television/advertising business model is going to change. It isn't based on reality anymore.

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Justin Turner likely out for rest of postseason with hamstring injury

i

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed in his postgame interview that the early indication is that Turner has a Grade 2 strain, which is defined as a partial tear of one or more hamstring muscles.

The Dodgers will be able to replace Turner on the roster for Game 5. Roberts said the choice will be an infielder, and he listed Zach McKinstry, Billy McKinney and Andy Burns as options.

Just sayin': First it was Clayton Kershaw, then Max Muncy, and now losing Justin Turner is yet another big blow to the Dodgers.

You know options are slim when I'm actually pulling for the Braves.

Me too.

Actually for the World Series (as a Giants fan) I'd like to see Dusty Baker finally win one. San Francisco was his first managerial job (i.e. for 10 season), he came close in 2002 but no cigar:
