More carries: Wells or Pittman

Trying to get Cinci's bet straight.....

His assertion

So, who gets more carries?

I'm gonna make this simple... Either Cincy is right - and after game 4 or 5 (we'll use 5 here) Wells is getting more touches per game, or Pittman is.

I'm gonna make this more complicated...

Are we going to make the determination after game 6, or will we add up all of their carries from game 6 onward and see who has more?

Just to clarify. It's carries (rushing attempts) only, right?

The text inside the bet says touches (which would include other things like receptions, option passes, etc.) I'm a stickler for details.

Yeah, I thought of that too.. it's hard for me to figure that one cause Cinci does say "touches" but the discussion revolves around carries... ALthough, frankly, I don't know that they're going to throw to one and not the other.

Geez, you guys are some real pissants... sounds like my NKU kids... how long does this paper have to be? What if we add quotes and a bibliography? Can we use Arial 16 pt or does it have to be Times New Roman 10? Can I use three inch margins?

I said that by game 5 I thought Wells (forget Mo Wells. Look at his reaction after the fumble in the Michigan game. He knows he's in the Big Dog House with Haw) would be getting more touches and more PT than Pittman...

PT is PT... anybody not on board with that? ... they do keep that stat I believe. If not, fuhgedaboutit.

I also stated that I thought Wells would get more touches, ie they would find ways to get the ball into his hands... runs, passes, shuffle passes, shuffle board, reverses, reverse osmosis, hearts, canasta and gin rummy... than Pittman would get...

in short I think Wells will be the TRUE featured back in the offense by Game 5, but may not be the starting back as Tressel is LOYAL to a fault. Who gets the ball the most is the TRUE featured back IMO.

actually Mo was one of the hardest working players during the summer workouts as well as he was the most impressive all around back during the scarlett and gray game when it comes to running and blocking... i doubt he's in the dog house because of his play... and the fumble in the michigan game wouldn't have happened if gabe watson wasnt in his face not even a second after the ball was handed to him.

**edit** once again maybe bias but its the truth as well...

Wow, no offense Cinci, but this could be the biggest no-brainer vbet I've ever seen on the planet. Granted, Pittman could get injured or amnesia or something, but other than that, this one is in the bag.

And don't take that the wrong way, I think Chris Wells is going to be an absolute stud. I'd put him above Mo Wells after seeing him in the Spring Game, but Pittman is a stud right now. He explodes into the hole and runs harder than some backs 20 pounds heavier than he is. His first TD was halfway through the season (at least) against Minnesota, and he finished with 7! If it wasn't for Tressel sticking Brandon "Fumblitis" Schnittker in on all goal line situations, Pittman could easily have finished with 12+.

Bottom line, in my humble opinion, Smith may be the Heisman candidate, but I'm not so sure he's clearly the best player in the Buckeye backfield.

im not bashing beanie but to put him over Mo would mean that you leave your QB in more of a position to get sacked because that is clearly one thing that beanie needs to work on... once he gets that taken care of then i will see a reason for him to be in front of MO

True. I guess the jury is still out with how I feel about Mo Wells. He's had some flashes of brilliance, but it was generally against lesser opponents. I agree that he has a leg up in the blocking department, but Chris looked more impressive in the Spring Game in the running department. As far as this season goes, I think both have a legitimate shot at #2.

Still, Pittman is the #1 guy for the entire season barring some injury or dog-house related situation.

first 5 games, I can't imagine Wells getting more than half the carries which pittman receives

ie First 5 games: Pittman 100, Wells 50.

If that's the case, Wells will have to get almost twice as many carries as pittman over the last 7 games. I don't see that happening, especially with troy surely stealing carries.
