Most expensive Buckeye ticket ever?

NerkBuck

Junior
As a 42 yo OSU alum and life-long hard core Buckeye fan, I've attended at least a few games every year since 1981. I've made most of the big games since then, and for the big ones, I've not minded paying the price for good seats (ie-Michigan anytime, Notre Dame in 95, Michigan St. in 98, WSU in 2002, UW in 2003 for the post NC lovefest, and The NC game of 2002).

I've never seen prices like those for the Texas game on Sept. 10. Is my memory failing me, or is $300 to get in the door, $500 to get to A deck in the corner, and $800-1000 for Prime seating unprecedented? I've seen $500 on the 50 before, but nothing close to this. Can anyone recall anything close?

While the prices will fall close to gametime, my broker contacts feel that this still will be the top priced ticket in OSU history.

Of course, I know I have to be there, so it's time to start saving!

Go Bucks!

Michigan 2002 was definitely close but I think this one is higher since there has been a longer period of anticipation and time for prices to rise. Not that the Michgan game wasn't huge but since Texas comes around less than once in a blue moon I think you'll see the overall prices be higher for this one. Last season for my $28 student tickets

I have season tickets and haven't missed a home game in more years than I care to mention and I have never seen the high asking price that they are for this game.

The NC in Tempe was the only one that I saw in this price range.

Just remember - Asking price and getting price are two different things. I am sure the prices will level off before game time.

Mili,

I decided to join you in bringing an early Christmas to the scalper/broker world. I just folded and locked in on a pair. I'm in the house with nothing to worry about except setting up my Friday night and Saturday day! As James Brown said, "I feel good....."

Nerk, I'm gonna roll the dice and see what's available at the game, unless me and buckeye68 and his wife decide to buy ahead of time. I would guess that I can score decent seats for around $200-300 about an hour or so before kickoff. Then again, having tickets in hand before game day would make life soooo much sweeter.

Nothing may top the 95 ND game - ebay wasn't around then.

Tibor may be right- I remember hearing that the ND game tickets were going for over $1000 up to the game, and scalpers were still getting up to $500 on game day. I wasn't there, though, so take that for what it's worth....

What's the most any of you have paid to get in to a Buckeye game? I've been pretty lucky, finding either friends with extras or buying from the "right" scalpers (i.e. regular people with extras, not career scalpers). I think the most I've ever paid was $120 for the '94 OSU/scUM game- one of Coop's rare wins over the weasels.
