Pounding out aggression, turns into obsession
Never started a thread before, so combine someplace if appropriate. But, I couldn’t find any where to post this… I was thinking about this while sitting in a horrible TPS report meeting this morning. What fan base is most hated by Buckeye fans? I’d be willing to bet it’s the Cult. Keep in mind, I’m rating the FAN BASE ONLY, not how much I/we hate the TEAM. The team is a non-factor here. I thought maybe I’d ask this group what you thought, along with sharing my thoughts:

Penn State: Rating 0 (out of 10) – They are the worst. Remember at the end of Time Bandits when the stupid parents touch the smoking turd in the microwave (aka pure evil) and then vaporize into nothingness? That’s why I never touch a Penn State fan. They’re a combination of pure evil and a smoking turd.

Michigan: Rating 4 – I actually don’t mind their fans. Obviously, I hate the team, but the fans are quite toothless. They aren’t horribly biased and they keep their mouths shut during bad seasons… which is conveniently often. They lose points for being fair weather fans. Living in Cleveland, the Michigan jerseys come and go with their record. I like to believe true fan bases wear it proud no matter which fat ass is coaching your team. (by the way, I ran the Columbus Marathon this Sunday, and my favorite sign was “Run like Brady Hoke is eating everyone behind you”)

Wisconsin: Rating 2 – These guys typically seem to just be assholes. They aren’t whiners, overly biased, or anything like that. But, what fan base starts a group cheer when they’re the visiting crowd during the singing of the team’s alma matter. Pure assholes.

Nebraska: Rating 7 – Easily my favorite B1G fans. They seem respectable, reasonable, and knowledgeable about the teams. They also seem to root loud, no matter what. I like these guys.

LSU: Rating 6 – I hate the SEC and their ego’s right now, even if I do think they have earned it. I’ll admit it, they are a better conference than the B1G, but many teams have gotten cocky with it. The LSU fans that I know (which is quite a few) are much better than most SEC fans. I enjoy talking football with them, and we share a hatred for Saban. Plus, I like the craziness.

USC: Rating Incomplete – Are there any true USC fans out there? Hello? Are you guys the most fair weather fans in all of football? Did you know you still actually have a team?

Miami: Rating 1 – I hate PSU fans. I pity Miami fans. These guys are easy to hate, but the real feeling is pity. They’re basically the 4th grade bully who beat everyone else up, but couldn’t quite get the upper hand on you. Then he grew up to be the garbage man. Miami fans couldn’t manage to get the upper hand on Ohio State when it mattered, and resorted to crying about flags which were obviously good calls and claiming to stealing our king (Lebron). Dumb asses, Ohio State is in Columbus, not Cleveland. How about I go to Jacksonville and brag about stealing the king back? Yeah, that would be pathetic, which is why I’m not doing it. Morons. Just don’t spill any garbage on my front lawn, Biff.

Texas: Rating 10 – These guys kicked ass. I loved hanging with Longhorn fans. I’m looking forward to playing these guys more in a few years. Great fan base, from what I could tell.

Anyways, I know Buckeye fans are very much hated with most teams out there. We’re perceived as being arrogant, loud, extremely biased… probably all well deserved stereotypes actually. But, we’re not fickle and we put our money where our mouths are. Anyways, I hate Penn State. Glad JoePa lost his record.

Seems about right. The youngsters who have only experienced success are the worst. Those who suffered through the John Coatta/John Jardine/Don Morton years are more stable, it seems.

Yeah, sorry. I thought about you when I wrote that... not from the aspect of WHY they're assholes... but why I might be wrong. But, I have seen too many reasons and know too many fans to deviate from my initial gut feeling.

Never started a thread before

Who started the Greg Oden thread, then?

Glad JoePa lost his record.

I'd have liked to have seen them only lose 2 of his wins - that way the NCAA can just give the middle finger to the Penn State fans. 111 makes it seem like they were being unbiased in their vacating.

Most of my experience is message board fans, but I'll give it a whack:

Penn State: can I go negative? 0. I actually have nothing wrong with any of their players at the moment. Franklin seems like he might be OK. But the fans are so caught up in a holier than thou attitude. This whole, "our guys graduate from a REAL university" crap, even though it's been shown how Penn State can inflate their numbers, plus "success with honor", "grand experiment", "We've never had a major NCAA violation". "We don't care about wins and losses, just creating upstanding citizens, BUT GIVE US BACK OUR WINS!!!" Ha.

Michigan: I'll go with 4. Or maybe 5. Their message boards don't seem too bad. Other than their "most wins of all time" argument, they don't do or say anything too obnoxious.

Cincinnati: 1. I don't want to pair them up with Penn State, so I put them a notch above. With their "bUCkeye state" and "Ohio's BCS team" (even though Ohio State was also a BCS team that year (yeah - "year" is not plural)), and their "O$U is afraid to play us" crap, it's really easy to not like those turd-swallowers.

Ohio University: 2. Again, I'm talking message boards. Any time they whine about script Ohio, or Ohio Stadium's name, or anyone referring to Ohio State as Ohio, or any of their whines toward Columbus, a Buckeye gets his wings.

SEC: 2. I'll throw them all in one bucket. I don't differentiate these guys. And this isn't message board stuff, but radio show callers. Look, we understand that you have the best football conference. We get it. They're like that SNL skit with Will Ferrell and someone else who I forget his name, and they're opponents running for the same office. Will Ferrell wins the election, and wants to keep debating the other guy, who wants to just lead a peaceful life. Will Ferrell just gets more and more annoying. Pretty funny. The SEC fans seem to want to be congratulated for being fans of an SEC team. If they scripted their calls (I'm convinced that many do), they probably have it written as "I'm a _________ fan {hold for applause}, I want to talk about..." And they say that they hate all the other teams in their conference, but they still chant "SEC! SEC!" Can anyone ever say that they'd like to chant "BIG TEN BIG TEN!"? Not me. And they use national championships to argue for such a strong conference. Yeah - in football, they're king and everyone else looks like little ants from atop their throne. But in a year when they are so bad in basketball, but Kentucky wins the national championship, can Alabama fans really brag about that?

Yeah, that is very annoying. Good thing Alabama and Auburn kept the SEC BCS bowl wins going last year. Oh, they lost? Both of them? Really? To non-SEC schools? Has anyone told ESPN this?

In descending order of hatred.
  1. Ped Aggy--The Patero cult is basically the delusional freak living at the end of a secluded road. You venture down there at your own risk. Nothing good should ever happen to them, for they are the scum of the earth.
  2. Fredo, Beavis & The Juggalos--some are worse than others, and their treachery generally differs over time. Fredo (with help from their loyal but hapless sidekick Beavis) obviously did the most damage to Ohio State in the 60s and 70s, but their revolution is over. THE BUMS LOST. Today, that clown running the juggaloes seems to be picking up the baton with his ridiculous calls for co-flagship status with Ohio State and constant twitter drivel about #americashottestcollege. At the end of the day, fuck all of 'em. Know your place, and that place is picking up our dry cleaning and fetching us a sandwich.
  3. Domers--a bunch of self-righteous, hypocritical assholes. The sooner they slip back into irrelevance the better.
  4. SEC--buncha assholes pretending to be real universities. The war is over; Sherman dropped the big one.
  5. Aggy--Not having to deal with them directly, they are more of an amusing freak show than a real disturbance but still. Jesus H. Godbastard Christ WTF is wrong with you people.
  6. Michigan--Fairweather fans which means that most of them have been keeping their mouths shut for awhile. Their Michigan born alumni aren't too bad either. Unfortunately, that's all negated by the stereotypical kid who ends up there from the Northeast or Chicago suburbs. The kid who focused his sole life on getting into an elite private university only to be Shaq'd by the 11 to which he applied and ended up at Michigan to forever go through life with a chip on his shoulder.

The looks I STILL GET...

One of the producers on the local sports talk went to the 08 Fiesta Bowl was all butt hurt about getting the down longhorn sign from a buckeye in the bathroom during the first quarter or some shit like that... they really are a prissy fanbase

Schizophrenic. On one hand, they want to exude this over-the-top Texas machismo, but then they keep whining about 2005 as if it were only yesterday that I raped their grandmother. Jesus. Get over it.
