National Signing Day 2016: 4-star WR Binjimen Victor signs with Ohio State

The Buckeyes add another talented receiver into Zone 6.
Losing nine players to the NFL draft certainly was a blow to the Buckeyes' talented team and depth, especially when two of those were key wide receivers for Ohio State the past couple of seasons. Both Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall (along with Braxton Miller), leave behind an increasingly entertaining starting spot battle among the wide receivers on Ohio State's roster. In addition, the Buckeyes are bringing in new talent from the class of 2016, including wide receiver Binjimen Victor, who added his national letter of intent to the growing pile in Columbus.
The 6'3, 177-pound Victor only just recently committed to Ohio State on Jan. 18, along with the likes of quarterback Dwayne Haskins and linebacker Keandre Jones. The monster recruiting Monday proved huge for the Buckeyes, with Victor's commitment pushing Ohio State to the top of the 247Sports Composite team rankings, if only for a while. Victor is ranked as the nation's 12th-best wide receiver in the class of 2016, the 17th-best prospect at any position from the state of Florida and 99th overall in the country.
This past season, Victor hauled in 42 receptions for 846 yards and 15 touchdowns. Victor and Austin Mack are the only two true wide receivers that committed to Ohio State's class of '16, which only spells out opportunity for both Victor and Mack. The receiving corps is an open race for several spots, left by the aforementioned players leaving for the NFL and graduating. It's extremely possible Victor could see playing time should he impress the coaching staff on the field during fall camp and practices and is a player to keep an eye on for the next couple of years at Ohio State.

"Binjimen Victor has the height (6'4) and wingspan to become a red zone monster, but he lacks the quickness and the bulk (177 lbs) to play right away. Victor is one of Meyer's first true 'big' wideouts who possesses a legitimate height advantage on the perimeter.
Victor's long arms; combined with his leaping ability, make him extremely tough to defend in jump ball situations. He does an excellent job of high pointing the football and also possesses good body control.
For Victor to get on the field, he needs to get in the Ohio State weight room. He is not quick off the line and he lacks the ability to quickly get to top speed, which shows with his limited route tree. At the collegiate level, his lack of quickness and strength may limit his effectiveness against press-man coverage. Victor has extreme potential due to his length, but he will most certainly be redshirting his first year." - Christopher Jason
