National Signing Day 2016: Keandre Jones signs with Ohio State

The Good Counsel linebacker is officially a Buckeye.
Keandre Jones committed to Ohio State on Jan. 18 after being committed to Maryland for just over a month. Now, Jones is officially an Ohio State Buckeye after signing and faxing in his letter of intent. Jones is rated the number eight linebacker in the country as well as the 90th overall player in his class. The final 247Sports composite rankings have Jones as a four-star prospect. Rivals, though, did give him a fifth star.
At 6'3, 200 pounds, Jones has a chance to crack the two-deep on the depth chart early in his career with a relatively young and inexperienced linebacker corps taking the field for the Buckeyes in 2016. Jones comes from a football factory at Good Counsel High School in the state of Maryland. However, this past fall the Falcons finished just 7-5.
Though the team finished in the middle of the pack in the WCAC, Jones turned in an impressive season. He tallied 119 tackles, racked up four sacks, and returned two interceptions for touchdowns for the year, according to the Washington Post. He was also honored as an Under-Armour All-American.

"What was a devastating day for the Maryland Terrapins, became an excellent day for the Ohio State Buckeyes, when Urban Meyer got his quarterback and "Will" linebacker of the future. As of now, Keandre Jones is undersized to play linebacker right away, at 6'3 and 198 pounds. As a comparison, Darron Lee came to Ohio State at 6'2, 205 pounds, but after a redshirt season, he finished his career at a ripped 228 pounds.
Jones' blend of athleticism and physicality will remind Buckeye fans of Lee, which should give him a shot to see the field in his second year. He does a good job of beating opposing blockers and is a force against the run and against the pass. His versatility will turn him into a third down Swiss Army Knife, where he can rush the passer or drop into coverage against tight ends or running backs.
Jones will come into Columbus with unlimited potential and will most likely have to redshirt to fill out his frame. Based on his attributes, it would not be crazy to expect a major jump from Jones in year two, once he has filled out." - Christopher Jason
