NBC Comedy: The Office, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, Community

NBC has been on a steady decline ever since Warren Littlefield left. They started strong in 2012 and still managed to finish FIFTH in the February sweeps. SNL is the network's top-rated show these days: 'nuff said.

I agree about the steady decline, but IIRC they were #1 in the fall and will probably be #1 again in May thanks to the idiots that have ruined good TV by loving reality crap like The Voice. I think Revolution is doing well for them so I'll give them props for that.

For as much TV as I've watched in my life it's kind of crazy how little of the original programming that I watch is currently on broadcast TV now.

2 CBS, 1 ABC, 3 NBC(2 after this Thursday), 3 Fox, 1 CW
2 AMC, 1 USA, 3-4 FX, 2-3 TNT, 3 SHO, 3 HBO

15 years ago it was probably 50% NBC.

Smoke and mirrors and Sunday Night Football.

I actually sometimes like "reality" signing competition shows, but The Voice is true lowest-common-denominator garbage. Judges are what keep the viewers coming back every week, and NBC's typical focus-grouped judging panel is an intoxicating brew for American audiences. And what better lead-in (NBC loves a good lead-in) for TV's biggest new drama, Revolution?!?

I keep watching Revolution for some reason that I can't understand. I think it is the concept of the story, which is very intriguing. Unfortunately, the writing is poor and acting is very hit or miss.

I like it, but I'm of the opinion that JJ Abrams shit smells like roses. Since Alias started he's only made one show that was unwatchable.

That's Steve Carell's natural hair color right now without dying it, but nice to see he made an appearance and had some continuity. He said the exact same line as his last recorded line (in his last appearance).

Going to miss parts of that show. Had some good times thru the years.

I sometimes scream out "Where are the turtles" due to that show and sometimes think of "Prison Mike" when thinking of Penn State.

You know why they call me Prison Mike...

I might seek out the finale and watch it...forgot to set the dvr. I stopped watching regularly two seasons ago, and altogether midway through last season, but the first three seasons are some of my favorite television ever. They created such great characters before they started to become caricatures of themselves sometime during seasons 4-5. Hard to believe it went 9 seasons...I remember watching the pilot like it was yesterday.

I thought the closure was good, but I didn't the episode was as good as it could have been.

I must have missed something, I assumed when Jim decided to move back to Scranton that he was no longer working for "athlede." That whole scenario seemed a little unexplained in that Pam could just sell their house and they could move to Austin and he'd automatically have a job after year?

Great finale. Sad to see it go.

Michaels first line was awesome, and fitting. "That's what she said"

I'm sad to see a show that I watch end, but its time has come. At some point you start holding characters back the longer the show runs.

Either you go completely off the rails like every JJ Abrams show after 3-4 seasons, you have Will Riker pass up the captains chair for 10+ years to stay on the Enterprise, or you have Ted Mosby waiting 9 years to meet his wife.

I would be in favor of setting a 5 year limit on shows with a provision that they all get 3-6 episodes after it is decided that they are cancelled to tie up loose ends. No matter how bad a show is there's probably someone out there that likes it and wants to see a proper ending. I think a big key to why cable shows are doing better than network shows is because you know you are going to get a whole season and the show likely won't get cancelled without an ending. Half of the new network shows that come out every year never even make it out of their first season. Slow starting shows like Seinfeld and The Office never would have made it through their first season if they premiered now.

It was all of his friends who owned the company. I don't have a hard time believing they'd let him back in.

makes sense.

The whole Pam selling the house seemed really forced. I wonder if it was a total rewrite after the backlash of the possible Pam/Bryan/Jim triangle. Seemed like they were trying to hard to make her look good in the end.

I don't really like how they handled that whole thing. I get Jim coming back to Scranton full time for Pam, but I thought it would have gone better if she would have told him to go on the 3 month trip when she overheard Darrell tell Jim about it.

At the beginning of the finale I was surprised to see Jim still in the DM office a year later.
