NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

Nice pickup for Georgia. Lane and Mike: good luck in the next few years at USC trying to field a competitive team.

In reality - I don't care much for coaches "poaching" players during times of transition.
But in this case, if the NCAA is gonna give a free transfer and the kid is a Georgia native, it's worth it to at least broker some type of conversation with the young man.

Can't blame the kids for taking that call either...he won't be playing for the coach that recruited him, it is no longer the same program, no bowl games...and the team is going on probation with LK at the helm.

When the new AD comes in there will be tremendous pressure on Lane to win 'the right way' (which USC couldn't do for over a decade leading up to Peteypalooza finally bringing USC back).

Big contract, walking violation, stained reputation for the program, and a new AD who won't want to be fired because the football team thinks the only reason NCAA punished them is because the NCAA wishes they were USC.

3 years tops unless he finally shows he can win as a HC...and do so without violating recruiting rules.

The UWC-Hawaii game remains in question. I have a bit of a problem with USC being able to play 13 and telling recruits..yeah...we won't get a bowl bid..but we will play 13 and we are headed to Hawaii.

What SHOULD happen: USC should not be able to play that game but should have to find a replacement or compensate Hawaii for the resulting financial impact on the Hawaii athletic department.

What WILL happen: the NCAA won't want to penalize Hawaii for USC's misdeeds...so USC will have a bowl game of sorts while banned from actual bowl games.

Helps soften the blow to 'SCs recruiting efforts a bit, perhaps...but in the big picture probably isn't much of a factor either way.

Considering that it's not the last game of the season, I'm not sure it's anything like a "bowl".

I won't lie, I hope RR can work some snake oil magic and poach a couple DB's from USC......LOL

Oh c'mon! I'm sure Sissoko's got that whole "falling down on the ground instead of covering WR's" thing all figured out by now. He just had to get some more reps in...

Sorry Mike - couldn't resist!

It is a trip to Hawaii...and the same number of games as all the teams who go to a bowl game.

It def. softens the bowl sanction IMO...but that is JMO.

I don't think it does a thing...these kids want the spotlight of a bowl...not some early season game that no one will watch...
