I didn't know, thought you were being spectacular again It was either Stewie analogy or try to convince everyone that you shouldn't make fun of Herbie Husker since he is a real person this year. Some bloke from the Sandhills that is suffering from elephant man disease. I figured it would keep your fans distracted for a quarter or two. Feel free to let loose on this mascot. I wanted to pop him since day one.

Good lord, reminds me of the inflatable Warrior mascot they brought in the year after I graduated from Wayne.

Thoughts on Ohio State vs. Nebraska

Before looking forward to this weekend's game against the Cornhuskers, let's look back a moment to last week's game.


After so many close calls last year in which the Buckeyes came out on the losing end, it was nice to see the good guys get the victory after a hard fought contest versus a quality opponent on the road.


Perhaps even more encouraging than the final score was that for the first time all season, I came away from the game feeling like the Buckeyes made solid progress and got better.


Over the first four games of the season, it was difficult to point to one area that the Buckeyes were encouragingly successful in.


That lack of polish in all phases of the game obviously did not bode well for some of the bigger challenges on the schedule.


That changed against MSU.


The Buckeyes focused on stopping the run on defense (their biggest challenge in the game) and they achieved that goal with great success (MSU had 34 yards rushing on 22 attempts).


They were also relatively successful at everything else outside of turnover margin and moved the ball against one of the best defenses they will face all season.


Maybe it was the hostile environment. Maybe it was the Big Ten opponent. Whatever it was, hopefully something clicked for the Buckeyes last weekend as they looked focused for the first time all season.

An interesting side bar is I have heard a few Nebraska fans are making a roadtrip to Athens to watch Frank Solich's Ohio Bobcats play Buffalo at noon. Just a 90 minute trip through the lovely hills of Southeast Ohio

Two days until the game is here. Cannot wait. Hopefully we are able to control Martinez and not let him get to the outside and get loose. Would love to see us bring pressure early and try and get to him, and not let him settle in. You heard it here, this is the game Philly makes someone miss and houses it.

Hoping the fans really step up Saturday. It should be out of control the whole night. Lets back our boys to a victory!

Piney, I go to 1 or 2 games a year. Happened to be at that Ohio game with my daughter. The Bucks run onto the field, I'm looking at Tressel and the team. My daughter says, "Hey, Rufus is hitting Brutus." I looked in time to observe, "He's hitting him in the nuts." The guy behind me says, "Where else do you hit a Buckeye?"

Lots of talk about opposing fans and how they are treated. I've never seen anyone mistreated at any game, but I seem to go mostly to day games. Youth + alcohol = all kinds of trouble. Always has, always will.

On the other hand, I have had problems with OSU fans. At another game 4 or 5 years ago, again with my daughter there (she was 14 at the time), a couple of drunk kids sat by her. I had my headphones on listening to the radio pregame, and finally my daughter tugged on my arm to tell me these kids were talking sexually to her, and one kept spitting snuff by her foot and it was splashing on her leg. I won't get into what I did, but after I did it, I didn't see those guys the rest of the day. You don't have to be an opposing fan to have problems in Ohio Stadium or anywhere else.

If you're running around yelling pro Ohio State things on another team's campus you probably deserve whatever verbal response comes your way. And if you're walking through a large group of drunk students while yelling, you're probably going to get something thrown at you, right or wrong.

I had never heard of the OH!... IO! thing before last year, maybe a week or so before you folks came to Lincoln. I thought it was funny, so I did it a coupla times, and your fans obligingly belted out their IO! response before turning around and seeing a Husker fan sharing the fun. Got a lot of smiles and thumbs-ups about that.


I really like the Buckeyes and Buckeye fans. I've read some stuff here at BP about the goings-on in C-Bus, and it sounds a little out of control at times, but if you go around expecting every campus to mirror your own you're going to be disappointed. So I'm not going to judge too harshly for some rowdiness. I expect it pretty much every time we go anywhere.

The one exception in the B1G so far has been Madison, although I wasn't there in person. Didn't hear one good story about "Madtown." I expect to hear several stories of fun times from Columbus.

Question regarding parking: I usually arrive 3 hours prior to kickoff (early games)......however for an 8:00pm game, how early should one arrive to find a decent parking spot?

Near as I can tell, Evanston is the "destination game" of choice this year. That's where we're going. I'd love to go to The Shoe for a game, and I'll make it out there someday, but we've got family in Chicago. Hard to skip out on free room & board.
