New Uniforms/Nike Changes (Basketball)

 Thump was referring to the silver shoulder stripes, which don't stand out well against the white. The shorts have scarlet stripes.
And I'm referring to the stripes in the pictures that were on the side of the jerseys and matched up with the the stripes on the shorts.

Notice the stripes on the side of the jerseys exactly like the ones on the shorts. They would have looked better had the jersey stripes not been removed.

I'm watching Wake Forest right now and they've got stripes going down the side of their jerseys. UConn does as well. I assume those have been grandfathered in and other schools can't introduce new uniforms with the stripes. I don't know what the rulebook says exactly since I can't view pdf files so a simple explanation of the rule would be helpful.

Ummm yeah, maybe I'm overreading the restriction in the rule book because I do not see anything besides the three color restriction that could have to do with not allowing the stripes. UNC's jerseys have a checkered stipe of three colors going down the side.

Buckeyes players like new LeBron uniforms

CHICAGO - Having the logo of LeBron James on the front of their shorts did not help Ohio State channel the energy of the Cavaliers' star. But the Buckeyes' Nike uniforms that made their debut Friday in the Big Ten Tournament were a hit with the players.
``They're very comfortable,'' freshman Daequan Cook said.
``I like them a lot. (Especially) the shorts,'' junior Othello Hunter said.
The jerseys are more form-fitting, and the shorts are longer than the previous style.
``It gives the refs a better opportunity to call fouls if somebody is grabbing your jersey because they're so tight,'' senior Ron Lewis said. ``If your jersey is coming out, it's not because of you.''

NEAL C . LAURON DISPATCH Greg Oden had no problem performing in the new uniform, scoring 22 points and blocking four shots in a winning effort.

CHICAGO ? The jerseys were not as tight or revealing as Nike?s pregame marketing blitz had led everyone to believe. The shorts were not as long or billowing as some feared.
Ohio State guard Ron Lewis thought they fit just fine. "I loved them," he said after the No. 1-ranked men?s basketball team debuted the duds yesterday in the Big Ten tournament. "If we keep winning in them, I?m going to keep loving them. If we lose, I?m not going to like them anymore."

High-tech or not, Ohio State's new uniforms are just plain ugly

CHICAGO (AP) - New doesn't always mean improved.

The folks at Coca-Cola learned that the hard way after an entire nation turned up its nose at New Coke. David Stern was forced to take his new ball home after it was almost universally panned by NBA players. And aside from "He Hate Me," the XFL did nothing to enrich our lives.

But Nike knows better. Fifteen years after the Fab Five did us all a favor and banished short shorts forever, Nike decided college basketball's uniforms needed another makeover.

i dont think they are ugly at all. i like the simplistic and traditional look they have and they have some very original and innovative design and fitting forms to them. i worried about the length of the shorts but i guess if the players like them then thats all that counts. im assuming the whole jersey was made my lebron so when you take a players perspective of looking nice yet incorporating functional features its all good. the tighter fit makes fouls more apparent and the material is thicker yet tighter so its harder to grab too. the shorts seemed really long but in the game they didnt seem that much longer and they are still tight around the knees instead of being excessively baggy and imposing dribbling and the such so im really happy with them.
