Next year could be Day's best team, IMO.
On offense basically the only losses are QB and both OTs. WR, OG and RB will all probably be the best in the country. A top 3 WR of: MHjr, Egbuka and Fleming rivals any trio we've had for years; Jackson and M Jones would be 2 of the best OG starters in the country(case in point how Jalen Carter was shut down in the Peach Bowl), and Vimahi and Hinzman behind them is a great backup; if you get a healthy 4 of- Henderson, Williams, Pryor AND Hayden(and maybe Trayanum), then not sure how you can't think that's not the best RB room in the country.

The front 7 on defense will be just insane. JTT and Sawyer at DE. Hall, Williams, Hamilton back at DT(throw in a young Kanu as well). Eichenberg and Steele back at LB and Hicks pushing for time. All of that and the freshman DL are freaks so the depth should be of little worry.

Focus of the off-season should be at DB. A lot will be lost from what was already a bad secondary. Corner there is: Denzel Burke, Jordan Hancock, Jyaire Brown and JK Johnson to develop. Safety will be a bit of a bigger challenge. Lathan Ransom is the only one back and he isn’t great. I'm sure there is hope that Styles and Stokes fill in and are good but that’s no lock.

Still, easy to project the offense being as good(I'm assuming QB play is good) and the defense should take a big step forward from the atrocity of the last two games
Safety play will be great if you ask me. Stokes is more athletic than Hickman and Styles will provide a much bigger presence to stopping the run. Technically we're set at corner because I think Burke and Hancock is a solid duo. I thought Burke played well vs UGA and played much better late. Teams picked on Brown who's probably going pro.

Im not really talking about fans specifically…..Stroud had the reputation as a kid with elite QB talent from the Elite 11 camp on top of the verbal praise from the usual QB camp coaches talking about his ability.

I think it’s why Day never flinched when it came to CJ not performing great initially (he had seen it in practice) and why most “in the know” knew CJ would be a stud. I guess I recall players continuously raving about CJ in practice during Justin Fields junior year as well. Fields was tearing it up but I feel like there were constantly reports out of practice about CJ looking really sharp.

I really haven’t gotten that vibe throughout this year….maybe it just hasn’t been focused on as much or McCord and Devin Brown are just more under radar than CJ was as prospects. I’m really interested to see how the Devin Brown and McCord QB race takes shape….
When Olave returned, that showed a lot of faith that CJ could spin it. That and the Elite 11 accolades proved he had a great pedigree stepping into the starting role.

I haven’t been as “wowed” by McCord but it’s been so limited - he definitely brings tons of praise from HS but that was a long time ago. Bonus that he played with MHJr, right?

I do like Devin Brown and the new QB signing will be a winner someday.

We may have a real QB battle.

So the rest of the off season we will be talking about the next QB. Second will be who is going to step up in the secondary. Year two in the system leaves zero excuses for the defense. Dramatic improvement is needed for the dollars being spent on that side of the ball.
I am wondering if someday soon a star like Stroud will choose to stick around for his 4th year because he's set with NIL. He wouldn't improve his draft position, except maybe from #4 to #1, and he would make >10x in the NFL next year, but it will be interesting to see if someday NIL money is the deciding factor for a player to eschew going hardship, as it used to be referred to.

According to Herbstreit, Day is turning over the play calling next year.
To who, though? We need to pick up a baller play caller in the portal. :) Actually, maybe we let Hartline give it a rip. If it's up to me, that's our next head coach as long as Day is around a few more years. Might as well get him started.

That will happen for starters not expected to go in the top 5 of the NFL draft for 1. And 2m I think some kids want to play against the best competition as well.
But I could see a starter on a mid level team like Tennessee or aTm coming back for a 4th or 5th year because of a big NIL deal, and being a king in a small town. Or even a kid coming back to be a big deal(ish) in a major city(i.e. UCLA, Miami, UCF, Houston)

This is exactly what is happening at FSU with Jordan Travis. He’s getting a $1M+ deal to stick at FSU for one more year….no matter what he says, he would’ve declared for draft if not for the ability to make more $$$ in college than he would on a rookie QB deal in the 3rd/4th rd.

NIL was huge here and he can become more marketable throughout year assuming he is in Heisman race.

FSU is in a dump of a town.
And has 1/20th the national appeal of OSU.
And has blown goats for 20 years.
Yet their NIL game is on fleek.

On PNuts optimism for next year.
For the most part I agree.
But think he underestimates the loss of 2 stud OT’s.
We took for granted how good they were.

One area of opportunity for next year is better luck or diagnosis of our injuries.

Can’t tell me that when healthy we aren’t the best team in the country.

4 plays into the season critical injuries began.

Lastly the one player I’m most disappointed in is JSN.
We beat Georgia if he plays.

He will need to explain to NFL GM’s how he missed the entire year with a non-surgical hammy.
Is it a toughness issue, a health issue that would be a huge red flag, did you tap out to save yourself. Red flags all.

Okay so, this is NEVER going to happen for a top 10 pick like CJ Stroud; those guys are gone when they get the draft evaluation.

However, what you're talking about *is* starting to become true for the 3rd tier of QBs; not the first to third round guys, but all those flyers and backup guys who get taken on Day 3 in the NFL draft, are mathing this out and going "I can make way more money starting for ND than being a 6th round pick with a 100K signing bonus" and that WILL change the college football landscape.

It's just not gonna happen for a dude as elite as Stroud because you can't match the money, but more importantly, you can't provide the opportunity. But for guys who're just gonna be camp arms and late roster cuts? It makes perfect sense to stay in college, become an alumni hero, and get that sweet NIL money.

Frye seems like a natural fit. He’s been an OC for Kelly and i believe he called plays there.

I 100% prefer Frye over Hartline.
He has experience as an OC.
Hartline doesn’t have the breadth of experience. He has been a wr coach and that’s it, for only a few years.
And my fear is his default would take us over the top in becoming a pass first pussy soft offense.

I accounted for the loss of the 2 OTs, but most of the B1G doesn't have exceptional DEs, and there's also talent on the roster, just need to get reps. Frye is a good OL coach. We can revisit this after the May transfer portal as well

And JSN only needs to point to Jamar Chase to GMs. Missing the year shouldn't matter much. Heck, Jamo Willams went in round 1 and went into the draft with an injury that he just started playing from now
