Nick Saban (ex-HC Alabama Crimson Tide)

As he stares eerily straight into the camera.

While doing an interview with Goat Pime........

But Alabama's 27-20 overtime loss to Michigan in the CFP semifinal at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 was a hard one for Saban to digest. Not only was Saban upset about the way his team played, he was especially disheartened about some of the things that happened afterward -- in the Rose Bowl locker room and back on campus, when he met with some of the players.

"I want to be clear that wasn't the reason, but some of those events certainly contributed," Saban said of his decision to retire. "I was really disappointed in the way that the players acted after the game. You gotta win with class. You gotta lose with class. We had our opportunities to win the game and we didn't do it, and then showing your ass and being frustrated and throwing helmets and doing that stuff ... that's not who we are and what we've promoted in our program." …

"So I'm saying to myself, 'Maybe this doesn't work anymore, that the goals and aspirations are just different and that it's all about how much money can I make as a college player?' I'm not saying that's bad. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that's never been what we were all about, and it's not why we had success through the years."

Maybe it's because I agree with him...
but I've read and watched numerous things Saban says about the current world of college sports.. specifically NIL and the portal
That we are witnessing the beginning of the end of college sports
Only a few will be able to win at the game... meanwhile college fans will eventually give up on it...

Player development will become a distant objective...
His wife was a major factor in him hanging up his spurs...
They used to have breakfast sessions at their house with players and families... where the topic used to be with parents and the personal and athletic development of their sons... rapidly turned into 'you're not paying my son enuf'

It'll creep into professional sports because player development will suffer... and the quality of pro sports will diminish
It all makes sense

Its hilarious to agree with Saban's ridiculous statements, when Alford leaves his team at the beginning of spring practice and screws his former program. I'm sure Saban had no problem making millions from his own name, image and likeness in national commercials and his various dealerships. On top of constantly being the highest paid HC in CFB. The irony of making tens of millions of dollars off of free labor, but complaining when the same players who caused him to make those millions ask for a fraction now he's against it. He and his wife can kiss my ass.

Player development will not suffer, players who want to be great, will work to be great. Matter of fact they'll be more incentivized to be great due to the financial aspect.
Only a few have been winning for decades. CFB has never had parity. You'll never see Purdue or Texas Tech win NCs, but now their players can earn a paycheck for their work, like every other student can. And NIL will actually keep some kids in school a little longer, if their NIL deals are better than their NFL deals, that strengthens CFB.
Saban is an absolute hypocrite, because he had no problem poaching coaches for more money from other schools. He had no problem stacking class after class with top talent, but now with NIL and the Portal those same players that would just go to Bama, now some of them go elsewhere, and now he's butthurt. His old ass needs to go somewhere and stop talking because he can no longer utilize bag men.
