No. 1 Ohio State vs. #9 Xavier (Game Thread)

I had a computer crash and spent 14 hours today getting things back online, which I have just done. I was able to log in to BP on a modem on an old computer, but the line was so slow I could not do anything else.

Just as I was lamenting my state, ESPN decided to broadcast the last three minutes of the game and the highlights of the OT.

Wow. What a game! Thank you 4077 Karl Road!

Lewis was the star of this game, but for me the play of the game was the foul by Oden. A real heads-up play that gave us that final chance and spoke volumes about his faith in his team and his commitment to them.
Glad to see you back . It was an exciting game to say the least. That definitley was a heads up play by Greg

That oughta shut up some very smug assholes around here (Cincinnati)... But it probably won't.

They have enough heartache to last them another 23 years.
It will probably make them even hungier for someone down there to beat the Bucks

:slappy: and :tibor:

Afterward, Cage, who had a career game (25 points on 8-of-8 shooting) only to see his lone miscue prove fatal, lamented what might have been - and chose a peculiar subject at which to aim his frustration.

"ESPN's lucky I missed that free throw, because they really doubted us," said Cage. "I just want to put that our there: so lucky I missed that free throw."

Yep, OSU is lucky you're a choker.

I just read this and thought it was appropriate for today :biggrin:
From the Toledo Blade ;
"By Dave Hackenberg;

Utter madness missing from this tourney

COLUMBUS - Something is missing thus far in the NCAA tournament.

Upsets. Monster upsets. Three-pointer-at-the-buzzer, dagger-to-the-heart, gut-wrenching Bryce Drew upsets."

I know that they are probably hurting, but these guys (Musketeer Madness) need to hear that we respect the great game they gave the Buckeyes today.

Looks like a bunch of Dayton and Xavier fans fighting back and forth...

"Oden 2 hand shoved him into the cheerleaders"

"No he didn't he was going for the ball, take off your blue goggles"

"Shut up UD fan"

"Screw you X fan"

Insult to injury, just watched the replay of Lewis' shot.... who's man was he? Cage..... who got picked by Conley.

that is just damn fine precision. watch how all the guy know where they need to be. conley takes the ball down the court, lewis sweeps across and behind, hand off and screen, harris shields, and cook and butler fill corners. lewis was the hot man, so he deserved to get the hand-off.

that is precision. that is good coaching. that is exceptional execution, guys.

excuse me... that is exceptional Xecution.

i love how lighty and hunter are going crazy jumping up and down, while the rest of the bench is composed. allow me to extract and exaggerate here: these are guys who would cut off their index fingers for the betterment of the team. okay, that's macabre. i think it's figuratively appropriate, though.
