Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Well, at the beginning of the 2006 season people were jumping on the Willingham wagon, saying he went 9-3 his first season at ND. Weis also went 9-3, and got a raise while Willingham got fired 2 years after. I'm saying that I agree he got a raise too soon there, as ekeen pointed out, but hes continuing to do pretty well since the team hasn't had back to back seasons with 9 or more wins in the last decade.

Of course considering the number of mediocre teams they've played the past 2 years, 9 wins isn't all that surprising. Yes, of course, it's not Weis's fault the teams that are on the schedule aren't all that impressive anymore like they might have been when the schedule was made, but these two 9 or 10 win seasons aren't anything to get all that excited about, as evidenced by their ranking most of this season.

Ok, thats true, then should ol' Rutgers get any love? Their schedule hasn't been much better than ours, if we play USC close again and extract some revenge it'll boost that schedule a bit. Its a shame JoePa couldn't have had another season like he did last year :(

Well by the time they're finished, IF (and they won't be, but IF) they go undefeated they potentially will have beaten 2 teams with only 1 or 2 losses. Who's been the best team you've beaten this year? Georgia Tech I guess? I guess Purdue and Penn State are also 7-4, and that's about the extent of it. So yes, I would say Rutgers is around the same. I would point out that Rutgers is probably in the top 10 this week, it took this long for them to even break the top 15, which I think is about right. If they lose to WVU, they'll be back to between 15 and 20, I imagine, which is where I think they should be.

I think West Virginia will play Rutgers tough, I'm not sure which team is playing at home though. I know playing at Papa John's in Louisville isn't much fun, West Virginia had a rough road from the beginning going into Louisville. If any other undefeated team has a shot at going to a big game though, its Rutgers. Boise's schedule looks really bad, Hawaii and Oregon State have been their most impressive opponents? On the other hand, Brennan may have some crazy stats and all, but they weren't enough to get him past 6-5 Alabama.
As far as ND, if we lose to USC we'll be out of the BCS picture being the last game of the season. If we win, and Florida muffs the SEC championship, the USC win will lift us over Rutgers into the championship I think. If the OSU/Michigan game is close as always, Michigan may stay ranked high, but I don't think there will be a rematch.

Rutgers has to play at Cincinnati and at West Virginia...I don't see them making it through at 12-0.

How many times are we now going to be subjected to the "Charlie Weis's daughter has Autism" story on ESPN.

I know they re-aired the one about the kid with cancer calling the play at Washington about 34 times on Sportscenter.

Wonder what the over/under is the the amount of times this story is aired? :roll1:

It's absolutely disgusting to me that he uses this the way he does. If it were my daughter and they asked questions, I would just ask that my family's privacy be respected.

I have difficulty seeing this as anything short of advertorial. It is placed to try to repair his quickly sinking image as a self-interested, ego-maniacal bully who cannot win the big games.

It will not be successful.

Charlie and his wife have a foundation set up for his daughters illness! Why in the hell would he try and hide it when he has works his ass off trying to find a cure for it. The guy is only trying to raise money to fight the condtion.

Some of you just need to shut the fuck up when it comes to shit you have no clue about. You're hatred towards CW just makes you look stupid. Go ahead ban me again (or forever) for this post but what I said needed to be said.
Giving him shit for doing something good is just childish.
