I’ve been in Tallahassee for a game against UF, specifically the one where Tebow got angry because the Tallahassee fans cheered when Percy Harvin appeared to go down with an injury (having been there… that is exactly why they were cheering)
I was there for other games as well… my opinion is that the choice for “atmosphere” is the biggest joke on there

I have misplaced my pants.
The whole thing is a joke. Nobody is going to look at that and say, "Yeah - all of these choices were great. Spot on. You go, Girl!!" 99% of fans might agree with the head coach. Fine. But who gives a fuckity fuck about the other categories? And even if someone cares, no one is say, "C'mon, Indiana, step up your game - your fight song will never be better than M*ch*gan's at this rate!"
Back to your last sentence, though, I think the biggest joke is "color scheme".

Gangs like that color scheme. At least that's what I assume given how our local school district doesn't allow college gear from Miami, UNC, and UNLV. There might be a couple more, but those are the ones I recall.

Could also be the letters.
Sometimes gangs wear certain team paraphernalia due to the letters.
For example, the Hoovers in LA wear a lot of Astros hats because of the “H”
